BACKGROUND The aim was to describe a strategy for recruitment of healthy volunteers (HV) to a randomized trial that assessed the efficacy of different telephone techniques to assist HV in performing cardiac massage for vital emergency. Participation in the randomized trial was not financially compensated, however HV were offered emergency first-aid training. We also studied factors associated w...

using the notion of “belongingness ($epsilon$)” and “quasi-coincidence (q)” of fuzzy points with fuzzy sets, we introduce the concept of an ($ alpha, beta$)- fuzzyhv-ideal of an hv-ring, where , are any two of {$epsilon$, q,$epsilon$ $vee$ q, $epsilon$ $wedge$ q} with $ alpha$ $neq$ $epsilon$ $wedge$ q. since the concept of ($epsilon$, $epsilon$ $vee$ q)-fuzzy hv-ideals is an important and ...

This paper deals with the hyperstructures called Hv-modules. The main tools concerning the class of Hv-modules with the ordinary modules are the fundamental relations. The fundamental relations in Hv -modules and fuzzy Hv-submodules are studied in this paper. In particular, the product structure of fuzzy sets on Hv-modules is studied.

Objective This study aims to assess head volume (HV) alterations at 11 to 14 weeks in fetuses with congenital heart defects (CHD). Methods A retrospective case-control study on 100 normal and 26 CHD fetuses was conducted. The fetuses had a first trimester scan with volume data sets stored from which HV was calculated. The mean HV and HV as a function of crown-rump length (CRL) in normal fetuses...

Background: Abnormality of hepatic vein (HV) waveform evaluated by Doppler ultrasonography has been widely studied in patients with chronic liver disease. The paper investigates the relationship between HV waveform changes, portal vein velocity (PVVel), hepatic artery pulsatility index (HAPI) and portal pressure (PP) measured directly from patients with portal hypertension (PHT), aiming to disc...

OBJECTIVE This study was aimed to evaluate relationship between hyperintense vessels (HV) on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and artery steno-occlusion related intracerebral collaterals. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 233 patients with 260 atherosclerotic lesions in the M1 segment of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) were examined with FLAIR and digital subtraction angiography (D...

PURPOSE To investigate whether hyperventilation (HV) for 5min increases the diagnostic yield of electroencephalography (EEG) compared to 3min HV. METHODS data were evaluated from 1084 consecutive patients, from three European centres, referred to EEG on suspicion of epilepsy. Seizures and interictal EEG abnormalities precipitated during the first 3min and during the last 2min of the HV period...

The aim of this study was to assess the computed tomography angiography (CTA) manifestations of collateral circulations in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS). Eighty patients with BCS were examined by CT scan. Using the CTA images of the relevant blood vessels, including the affected hepatic veins (HVs) and inferior venae cavae (IVCs), the collateral circulations were reconstructed. In ad...

This study compared the acute and chronic response of circulating plasma brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) to high-intensity low-volume (HI) and low-intensity high volume (HV) resistance training. Twenty experienced resistance-trained men (23.5 ± 2.6 y, 1.79 ± 0.05 m, 75.7 ± 13.8 kg) volunteered for this study. Before the resistance training program (PRE), participants performed an acute...
