A homoleptic scandium trialkyl complex in combination with a borate compound served as an excellent catalyst for the C–H addition of aliphatic tertiary amines to olefins. This highly regiospecific, 100% atom efficient C–H bond alkylation reaction was applicable to a wide variety of tertiary amines and olefins, including functionalised styrenes and unactivated a-olefins. This work represents the...

A novel, heterogeneous Pd-MCM-48 catalyst has been developed by encapsulating palladium nanoparticles into the cubic phase of mesoporous MCM-48 matrix at room temperature. The catalyst demonstrated excellent chemo- and regioselectivity for the hydrogenation of olefins at room temperature within 30-80 min. The turnover frequency for the hydrogenation is very high (4400 h(-1)). Interestingly, sel...

tert-Butyl hypoiodite (t-BuOI) was found to be a powerful reagent for synthesis of aziridines from olefins and sulfonamides. The aziridination of olefins was achieved by using sulfonamides with t-BuOI. Our preliminary findings represent the example of metal-free aziridination of olefins with readily accessible sulfonamides as a nitrogen source.

Catalytic hydrosilylation represents a straightforward and atom-efficient methodology for the creation of C-Si bonds. In general, the application of homogeneous platinum complexes prevails in industry and academia. Herein, we describe the first heterogeneous single atom catalysts (SACs), which are conveniently prepared by decorating alumina nanorods with platinum atoms. The resulting stable mat...

Chelated ruthenium catalysts have achieved highly chemoselective olefin metathesis reactions. Terminal and internal Z olefins were selectively reacted in the presence of internal E olefins. Products were produced in good yield and high stereoselectivity for formation of a new Z olefin. No products of metathesis with the internal E olefin were observed. Chemoselectivity for terminal olefins was ...

A highly-integrated experimental system for plasma decomposition of fuels was built. Experiments were conducted and confirmed that macromolecular chain hydrocarbons were cracked by large-gap dielectric barrier discharge under the excitation of a microsecond-pulse power supply. Alkanes and olefins with a C atom number smaller than 10 as well as hydrogen were found in the cracked products of n-de...

α-Synuclein (α-Syn) is an abundant cytosolic protein involved in the release of neurotransmitters in presynaptic terminal and its aberrant aggregation is found to be associated with Parkinson's disease. Recent study suggests that the oligomers formed at the initial oligomerization stage may be the root cause of cytotoxicity. While characterizing this stage is challenging due to the inherent dif...

Beside Ziegler-Natta and Phillips catalysts the development of methylaluminoxane (MAO) as cocatalyst in combination with metallocenes or other transition metal complexes for the polymerization of olefins has widely increased the possibilities in controlling the polymer composition, polymer structure, tacticity and special properties with high precision. These catalysts allow the synthesis of is...
