An injective map from the vertex set of a graph G—its order may not be finite—to the set of all natural numbers is called an arithmetic (a geometric) labeling of G if the map from the edge set which assigns to each edge the sum (product) of the numbers assigned to its ends by the former map, is injective and the range of the latter map forms an arithmetic (a geometric) progression. A graph is c...

We propose a geometric interpretation of the classical Rankin-Selberg method for GL(n) in the framework of the geometric Langlands program. We show that the geometric Langlands conjecture for an irreducible unramified local system E of rank n on a curve implies the existence of automorphic sheaves corresponding to the universal deformation of E. Then we calculate the ‘scalar product’ of two aut...

In which order can a product be assembled or disassembled? How many hands are required? How many degrees of freedom? What parts should be withdrawn to allow the removal of a speciied subassembly? To answer such questions automatically, important theoretical issues in geometric reasoning must be addressed. This paper investigates the planning of assembly algorithms specifying (dis)assembly opera...

A geometric theory of tensor product for glN -crystals is described. In particular, the role of Spaltenstein varieties in the tensor product is explained. As a corollary a direct (non-combinatorial) proof of the fact that the number of irreducible components of a Spaltenstein variety is equal to a Littlewood-Richardson coefficient (i.e. certain tensor product multiplicity) is obtained.

A new and useful set of homogeneous coordinates has been discovered for the treatment of Euclidean geometry. They render Euclidean motions not merely linear (as the classical homogeneous coordinates do), but even turn them into orthogonal transformations, through a clever choice of metric in two (not one) additional dimensions. To take full advantage of this new possibility, a good representati...

Staggered formalism of lattice fermion can be cast into a form of direct product K-cycle in noncommutative geometry. The correspondence between this staggered K-cycle and a canonically defined K-cycle for finitely generated abelian group where lattice appears as a special case is proved. The Geometric Random Inner Product (GRIP) is a recently developed test method for randomness. As a relatively new method, its properties, weaknesses, and strengths are not well documented. In this paper, we provide a rigorous discussion of what the GRIP test measures, and point out specific classes of defects that it is able to diagnose. Our findings show that the GRIP test successfully detects...
