Escherichia coli strain K-12 substrain HMS174 is an engineered descendant of the E. coli K-12 wild-type strain. Like its ancestor, it is an important organism in biotechnological research and is used in fermentation processes for heterologous protein production. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of E. coli HMS174 (ATCC 47011).

conclusions ctx-m was the most prevalent esbl genotype in uropathogenic e. coli (upec) isolated from uti. in addition, a high frequency of qnr genes among esbl-producing e. coli was identified in this study. in order to avoid treatment failures, we recommend using phenotypic and molecular methods to diagnose these enzymes and qnr genes. results the highest sensitivity was seen to imipenem (96.7...

conclusions the impact of sugars and other factors on biofilm formation can vary depending on the type of bacteria present. results results showed that the presence of sugars has no effect on the bacterial growth rate; all three concentrations of sugars were hydrophilic and demonstrated a high affinity toward binding to the surfaces. background bacteria utilize various methods in order to live ...

SYSTEM of genetic transduction has been discovered in the sexually fertile A K-12 strain of Escherichia coli. This transduction is mediated by lambda, a temperate phage for which K-12 is normally lysogenic. The distinctive features of the lambda-K-12 system include the following: (1) The transductions are limited to a cluster of genes for galactose fermentation. The GaZ loci are closely linked ...
