AGEP: Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis EBV: Epstein-Barr virus A cute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare severe cutaneous reaction characterized by the acute onset of generalized nonfollicular sterile pustules arising on an edematous erythema. The eruption is usually associated with fever and neutrophilic leukocytosis. Although AGEP is precipitated by drugs in most ...

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of lymphoma. There are various types of DLBCL including immunoblastic and centroblastic. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a member of Herpes virus family found in all human populations inducing different lymphoproliferative disorders. The role of EBV in the development of DLBCL is known. Multiple laboratory methods are availab...

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant that appears in the epithelial lining of nasopharyngeal mucosa. Genetic predisposition, environmental risk factors, nutritional and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection are main factors for NPC. virus, human cancer-associated present more than 90% people worldwide. Latent Membrane Protein 1 (LMP1) has been identified as converting oncoprotein. LMP1 wa...

Latent viral infection has been implicated in the pathophysiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is known to be important in pulmonary fibrosis. The current authors hypothesised that EBV is associated with the pathogenesis of COPD. Sputum samples were collected from patients both during exacerbations of COPD and when stable. A control group of smokers ...

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) oriP and the EBV nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA-1) protein allow persistence of EBV-based episomes. A nuclear matrix attachment region (MAR) spans oriP and the adjacent region of the EBV genome containing the EBV-expressed RNAs. Here, we show that episomes with the MAR are retained significantly more efficiently in EBV-positive B cells than episomes containing oriP alone.

Acute hepatitis is a disorder that goes with liver cell necrosis and liver inflammation. Among the causes of acute hepatitis, the most common reasons are viral hepatitis. About 95% of the acute hepatitis generate because of hepatotropic viruses. Epstein-barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) are from the family of herpes viruses and rare causes of acute hepatitis. In this case report, acute...

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) belongs to the family of herpesviruses (herpes type 4) and is one most common highly contagious. During pandemic a new coronavirus disease, it was found that in patients previously infected with EBV, COVID-19 can cause its reactivation, which often manifested by clinic acute hepatitis. The article presents clinical case development hepatitis patient mixed infection EBV ...

We report a case of early-onset acute Guillain-Barre syndrome associated with reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection after nonmyeloablative stem cell transplantation (NST). Reactivation of EBV infection preceded disease onset, and the virus load increased concomitantly with disease progression (doubling time, 2.7 days). This case raises concern about the expanding scope of manifesta...

Paraffin sections of an undifferentiated salivary gland carcinoma of lymphoepithelioma type, arising in a white (Greek) patient and confirmed by immunohistochemistry, were examined for the presence of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), using in situ hybridization to detect EBV-specific EBER1 message. Epstein-Barr virus was detected in malignant epithelial cells, but was not found in lymphoid stroma or i...
