Introduction The recording of electroencephalogram (EEG) inside the MR scanner has gained increasing interest, particularly in the field of functional MRl (fMRI) [ 1,2]. EEG recording during fMRI can impair the image quality due to magnetic susceptibility of the EEG electrode assemblies and electromagnetic noise from the EEGrecording equipment. We therefore investigated (1) local signal drop ou...

Burst suppression (BS) is an electroencephalogram (EEG) pattern that is characterized by brief bursts of spikes, sharp waves, or slow waves of relatively high amplitude alternating with periods of relatively flat EEG or isoelectric periods. The pattern is usually associated with coma, severe encephalopathy of various etiologies, or general anesthesia. We describe an unusual case of anoxic brain...

Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal has conventionally been recorded with some devices, leads, an electrode cap, amplifier units, and A/D converters. The EEG signal can be contaminated by interference or sensor failures. Among the several artifact sources, an involuntary movement of patient is one of the main sources of interference in the EEG recording. The main objective of this study is to fin...

The goal of this study is to contribute to discussions about age-related changes in electroencephalogram (EEG) complexity. Eight characteristics of complexity were evaluated for sleep EEG of 175 healthy subjects. The complexity of the sleep EEG significantly increased up to the age of about 60 years. Over 60 years, the complexity stagnated or slightly decreased. The same tendencies were manifes...

Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is probably the most common paraneoplastic encephalitis. In children, seizures, behavioral disturbances and abnormal movements are the most frequent symptoms. Electroencephalogram is abnormal in most patients. We report a child with antiNMDAR encephalitis presenting extreme delta brushes in the EEG. This new EEG feature is described in pat...

In this paper, we will consider the problem of classifying electroencephalogram (EEG) signals of normal subjects, and subjects suuering from psychiatric disorder, e.g., obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, using a class of artiicial neural networks, viz., multi-layer perceptron. It is shown that the multilayer perceptron is capable of classifying unseen test EEG signals to a high degre...

We observed an anomaly in the human electroencephalogram (EEG) associated with exposure to terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA) Radiofrequency Fields (RF). Here, we characterize the time and frequency components of the anomaly and demonstrate that it is an artefact caused by TETRA RF interfering with the EEG recording equipment and not by any direct or indirect effect on the brain.

Pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modeling of the electroencephalogram (EEG) effect was combined with intracerebral glutamate determinations using microdialysis for rats receiving norfloxacin intravenously (150 mg/kg of body weight). The EEG effect (accompanied by tremors and seizures) was consistently observed without glutamate level modifications. Therefore, norfloxacin-inducted seizures are no...

BACKGROUND Tight glycemic control in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) may be accomplished only if severe hypoglycemia can be prevented. Biosensor alarms based on the body's reactions to hypoglycemia have been suggested. In the present study, we analyzed three lead electrocardiogram (ECG) and single-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) in T1DM patients during hypoglycemia. MATERIALS AND ME...

The electroencephalogram (EEG) signal plays an important role in the detection of epilepsy. The EEG recordings of the ambulatory recording systems generate very lengthy data and the detection of the epileptic activity requires a timeconsuming analysis of the entire length of the EEG data by an expert. The aim of this work is compare the automatic detection of EEG patterns using Discrete wavelet...
