We present the results of a search for clustering among the highest energy events detected by the surface detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory between 1 January 2004 and 31 August 2007. We analyse the autocorrelation function, in which the number of pairs with angular separation within an angle α is compared with the expectation from an isotropic distribution. Performing a scan in energy ab...

Utilizing only the vertical muon intensity of the Gaisser parameterization of the muon flux at the surface and propagating this energy spectrum underground according to statistical ionization and radiative energy losses, it is possible to calculate the underground muon intensity Crouch curve. In addition, the primary spectral index of the Gaisser parameterization can be adjusted from E to E sim...

boron nitride semiconducting zigzag swcnt, $b_{cb}$$n_{cn}$$c_{1-cb-cn}$, as a potential candidate for making nanoelectronic devices was examined. in contrast to the previous dft calculations, wherein just one boron and nitrogen doping configuration have been considered, here for the average over all possible configurations, density of states (dos) was calculated in terms of boron and nitrogen ...

We compute up-down asymmetries for atmospheric neutrino induced electron and muon events in the SuperKamiokande detector for the following neutrino oscillation models: (A) maximally mixed νμ− ντ or νμ− νs, (B) maximally mixed νμ− νe, (C) threefold maximal mixing between νe, νμ and ντ , and (D) neutrino oscillations via Equivalence Principle or Lorentz invariance violation. We emphasise the role...

The largest underground neutrino observatory, Super-Kamiokande, located near Kamioka, Japan has been collecting data since April 1996. It is located at a depth of roughly 2.7 kmwe in a zinc mine under a mountain, and has an effective area for detecting entering-stopping and through-going muons of about 1238 m 2 for muons of > 1.7 GeV. These events are collected at a rate of 1.5 per day from the...

The analytical expression for integral energy spectra and zenith angle distributions of atmospheric muons at large depths is derived. Fluctuations of muon energy losses are described using the parametrized correction factor. The fitting formula for the sea level muon spectrum at different zenith angles for spherical atmosphere is proposed. The concrete calculations for pure water are presented.

Idealized climate modeling studies often choose to neglect spatiotemporal variations in solar radiation, but doing so comes with an important decision about how to average solar radiation in space and time. Since both clear-sky and cloud albedo are increasing functions of the solar zenith angle, one can choose an absorptionweighted zenith angle that reproduces the spatialor time-mean absorbed s...

Atmospheric Čerenkov Technique is an established methodology to study TeV energy gamma rays. However the challenging problem has always been the poor signal to noise ratio due to the presence of abundant cosmic rays. Several ingenious techniques have been employed to alleviate this problem, most of which are centred around the Čerenkov image characteristics. However there are not many technique...
