A new procedure is proposed to perform push-out tests in SiC/SiC composites. To avoid the interphase damage resulting from mechanical polishing, the sample is prepared with the help of a ion slicing process. Initiation of debonding is detected on the mechanical response. A finite fracture mechanics approach allows to use the force at debonding onset to estimate the interfacial fracture energy.

Introduction: Patients with dental Class II bialveolar protrusion are generally treated by extracting the four first premolars or two first and two second premolars, and retracting the anterior teeth. This case report describes the treatment of an adult patient with bialveolar protrusion, a Class II canine and molar relationship, and lip protrusion. Methods: In this patient, the maxillary right...

The union of two different dental sprouts which can happen in any phase of dental development is commonly called fusion. This developmental anomaly may cause clinical problems including esthetic impairment, which are mainly treated by endodontic and surgical treatments. There are a few reports of conservative not invasive treatment of fused incisors teeth through restorative or prosthetic techn...

The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength (SBS) and debonding characteristics of a polymer mesh base ceramic bracket bonded with two different surface conditioning methods. InVu Readi-Base ceramic brackets were bonded to 100 human premolars with different etching protocols. With conventional method (CM), the teeth were etched with 37 per cent phosphoric acid for 30 seconds, w...

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate orthodontic debonding methods by comparing the surface roughness and enamel morphology of teeth after applying two different debonding methods and three different polishing techniques. METHODS Forty eight human maxillary premolars, extracted for orthodontic reasons, were randomly divided into three groups. Brackets were bonded to teeth with...

Strengthening of masonry members using externally bonded (EB) fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites has become a famous structural strengthening method over the past decade due to the popular advantages of FRP composites, including their high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. In this study, gene expression programming (GEP), as a novel tool, has been used to predi...

Carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced polymeric composites provide a promising future in structural engineering. To understand the bridging effect of CNT in the events of the fracture of CNT reinforced composites, the finite element method was applied to simulate a single CNT pullout from a polymeric matrix using cohesive zone modelling. The numerical results indicate that the debonding force during...

The aims of this systematic review were to investigate the success rates of prosthetic restorations on endodontically treated teeth and their manner of failure. PubMed and hand literature searches were conducted on studies published until June 2012. Only clinical studies on human subjects referring to the success rates of prosthetic restorations on endodontically treated teeth with a follow-up ...
