Abstract Background and objectives: Dendritic Cells are the most important of antigen presenting cells with an effective role in immune tolerance. This study, aims to clarify the role of IFN- β in induction on dendritic cells derived by monocyte in diabetes type1 to evaluate the T cells response to beta cell specific antigenic molecule. Material and Methods: In this research, peripheral bl...

Dendritic cell (DC)-specific intercellular cell adhesion molecule-3 (ICAM-3)-grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) is expressed on the surface of DCs and specialized macrophages and can support T cell proliferation. Antibody-mediated co-ligation of CD3 and ICAM-3, the ligand for both DC-SIGN and leukocyte function-associated antigen-1, leads to T cell activation. Therefore, we tested to see whether D...

The C-type lectin dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule 3-grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) is found on the surface of dendritic cells. It can mediate adhesion between dendritic cells and T lymphocytes and facilitate antigen capture and presentation. Many pathogens can exploit DC-SIGN binding for nefarious purposes. For example, DC-SIGN can facilitate the dissemination of viruses...

INTRODUCTION Glioblastoma is the most common primary brain tumor in adults and prognosis remains poor with a median survival of approximately 15-17 months. This review provides an overview of recent advances in the field of glioblastoma immunotherapy. Areas covered: Recent advances in dendritic cell vaccination immunotherapy are showing encouraging results in clinical trials and promise to exte...

We have designed a glycodendritic structure, BH30sucMan, that blocks the interaction between dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule 3-grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) and Ebola virus (EBOV) envelope. BH30sucMan inhibits DC-SIGN-mediated EBOV infection at nanomolar concentrations. BH30sucMan may counteract important steps of the infective process of EBOV and, potentially, of micro...

HLA-G is normally expressed on human trophoblast cells. It is a non-classical MHC molecule class I b. The role of HLA-G in diabetic type 1 is not known. We investigated the role of IFN-beta in induction HLA-G expression on the monocyte derived dendritic cells (DC) in diabetes type 1. Treatment of dendritic cell with IFN-beta in vitro from diabetic patients (n=20) and normal subjects (n=20) resu...

Human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (mdDCs) are versatile cells that are used widely for research and experimental therapies. Although different culture conditions can affect their characteristics, there are no known subpopulations. Since monocytes differentiate into dendritic cells (DCs) in a variety of tissues and contexts, we asked whether they can give rise to different subpopulations. I...

background & objectives: antisense peptide nucleic acids (pna) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. we considered the possibility that whether pna treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to dendritic cells (dcs). dcs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in t...

Dendritic cell (DC) vaccines were generated by apoptotic squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cells induced by 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA)-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT). ALA-PDT-DC vaccine inhibited the growth of SCC in mice, indicating that immunogenic apoptotic cells can activate an effective antitumor adaptive immunity and lead to a DC vaccine-based cancer immunotherapy.

Dendritic cell specific intracellular adhesion molecule-3 (ICAM-3) grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN), a C-type lectin present on the surface of dendritic cells, mediates the initial interaction of dendritic cells with T cells by binding to ICAM-3. DC-SIGN and DC-SIGNR, a related receptor found on the endothelium of liver sinusoids, placental capillaries, and lymph nodes, bind to oligosaccharides t...
