NAC (NAM/ATAF/CUC) transcription factors comprise a large plant-specific gene family that contains more than 149 members in rice. Extensive studies have revealed that NAC transcription factors not only play important roles in plant growth and development, but also have functions in regulation of responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. However, biological functions for most of the members in t...

After local herbivory, plants can activate defense traits both at the damaged site and in undamaged plant parts such as in connected ramets of clonal plants. Since defense induction has costs, a mismatch in time and space between defense activation and herbivore feeding might result in negative consequences for plant fitness. A short time lag between attack and defense activation is important t...

the principle of self-defense and retaliation created in order to protect people at risk of invasion and to comply with the conditions of human nature has a long history. according to islamic law also pay special attention to these issues and the abundance of evidence indicates that these institutions. these institutions in spite of similarity in the evidences and matters but they differ in ter...

toll like receptors (tlrs) recognize pathogens and generate an immediate defense response by inducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which rapidly destroy or limit the pathogens. in their bridging role, tlr downstream signals link innate and adaptive immunity, particularly by mediating dc maturation and activation of pathogen specific t lymphocytes. these pathways lead to the act...

Plant resistance to disease is controlled by the combination of defense response pathways that are activated depending on the nature of the pathogen. We identified the Arabidopsis thaliana BOTRYTIS-INDUCED KINASE1 (BIK1) gene that is transcriptionally regulated by Botrytis cinerea infection. Inactivation of BIK1 causes severe susceptibility to necrotrophic fungal pathogens but enhances resistan...

We show that DNA methyltransferase inhibitors (DNMTis) upregulate immune signaling in cancer through the viral defense pathway. In ovarian cancer (OC), DNMTis trigger cytosolic sensing of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) causing a type I interferon response and apoptosis. Knocking down dsRNA sensors TLR3 and MAVS reduces this response 2-fold and blocking interferon beta or its receptor abrogates it....

one way to confront chemical warfare in order to reduce their harmful effects, is to use the body's defense mechanisms. in order to do so firstly mustard gas (hd) was injected in an animal model in the form of an immunogen and the induced humoral immune response was investigated by two different immunological methods such as the ouchterlony test and a new liquid phase fluoroimmunoassay. 7l...

Phytophthora species are considered as the major cause of several plant diseases resulting in huge yield losses in agricultural crops. Despite years of effort to develop Phytophthora resistance varieties, there is no reports of a resistant cucumber variety. In this study, the effect of concomitant application of potassium phosphite (KPhi) and chitosan on some physiological and molecular respons...

Meloidogyne incognita, the root-knot nematode (RKN), a devastating plant parasitic nematode, causes considerable damage to agricultural crops worldwide. As sedentary root parasite, it alters root’s physiology and influences host’s phytohormonal signaling evade defense. The sustainable management of RKN remains challenging task. Hence, we made an attempt investigate nematicide activity Bacillus ...
