A DDQ-mediated domino reaction (up to six steps in a single process) has been developed to selectively provide substituted dihydrofurans from a common starting material containing a cyclic bis-thioenol ether. Study of the reaction mechanism highlighted a role played by the sulfur-containing moiety in influencing reaction rate and stereoselectivity.
A novel way of synthesizing unsymmetrical disulfides from thiols with DDQ is presented here. This procedure ran in a straightforward manner to give high product yields. A one-pot synthesis of bulky bis-pocket A₃B-type meso-cyano porphyrin, 5-cyano-10,15,20-tris(2,4,6-triphenylphenyl)porphyrin, has been accomplished via trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) catalyzed condensation of pyrrole and 2,4,6-triphenylbenzaldehyde in an acceptable yield of about 4%. DDQ served as oxidant and the cyanating agent.
A powerful inhibitor of TNF-alpha production, vialinin A, was synthesized from sesamol through a series of reactions involving double Suzuki-Miyaura coupling, 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquino (DDQ) mediated de-methoxymethylation and oxidative removal of methylene acetal by lead tetraacetate. We introduce the equivalent noise level (ENL) as a strongly robust complexity parameter. It combines the permutation largest slope entropy (PLSE) for the analysis of the regularity of any type of time series and the differential dynamical quantization (DDQ) for noise reduction. Simulation results attest the efficiency of the ENL for complexity analysis of noisy series of observations.
A novel organic dianion, N,N'-Disulfo-1,4-benzoquinonediimine (1) has been prepared, which is a strong electron acceptor. The reduction potential of the PPh4 salt indicates that 1 is a stronger acceptor than DDQ (2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4benzoquinone). The dianionic acceptor provided a BEDT-TTF salt, (BEDT-TTF)41·3H2O, the structures and physical properties of which are reported.
