With temperatures expected to rise across the southern Rocky Mountains, ability of native fishes tolerate stream warming has become a critical concern for those tasked with preserving coldwater species. We used common garden experiments evaluate thermal tolerance cutthroat trout ( Oncorhynchus clarkii) fry from five populations important managers representing three sub-species. Critical maxima ...

Streptococcus pneumoniae is an important causative agent for bacteremia. Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is a helpful molecular technique for the rapid identification of S. pneumoniae in positive blood cultures. There are many reports concerning the application of an enzymatic treatment with lysozyme in the FISH procedure for partial cell wall digestion of S. pneumoniae. However, this ...

(DO) is considered the most important water quality variable in fish culture. In the broadest sense, however, dissolved oxygen concentration is no more important than other environmental variables because any factor that is outside the range tolerated by fish can cause stress or death. What makes dissolved oxygen concentration so important in intensive fish culture is the speed with which it ca...

A framework for the integration of poultry and fish production in the tropics and sub-tropics is proposed. Poultry may be integrated with fish culture in several ways and benefits extend to both. Both poultry production and processing wastes have value as nutrient inputs to fish and the water used for fish culture can be used for evaporative cooling of poultry and fertilization of crops. The co...

Objective: The cytogenetic analyses of the abortus material provide important information about the recurrence risks and possible management for the couples with recurrent spontanous abortions. The methods of cytogenetic analyses depend on primarily cell culture that has relatively higher (1040%) failure. Since the most common chromosomal abnormalities in abortus materials are numerical chromos...

Different components of global environmental change are typically studied and managed independently, although there is a growing recognition that multiple drivers often interact in complex and nonadditive ways. We present a conceptual framework and empirical review of the interactive effects of climate change and invasive species in freshwater ecosystems. Climate change is expected to result in...

A revlew of the pathogenic impact of Myxosporea in marine fish culture is presented. At least 11 species of Bivalvulida and 7 species of Multi\~alvulida have been described in marine or brackish fish kept in different culture systems. The pathological importance of these myxosporoses is discussed, and their potential importance with the growth of culture facilities is stressed.
