Arachnoid cysts are rare lesions occurring anywhere in the cerebrospinal axis. The sylvian fissure remains the most favoured site for their occurrence, followed by cerebellopontine angle, suprasellar, and quadrigeminal cisterns. Retroclival arachnoid cysts are very rare. We report a retroclival arachnoid cyst with bilateral cerebellopontine angle extensions with hemifacial spasm in a 26-year-ol...

We present a case of an unusual epidermoid tumor of the cerebellopontine angle that appeared hyperdense on CT scans and hyperintense on T1- and T2-weighted MR images. We believe that these imaging characteristics were caused by a high protein concentration within the contents of the cyst.

Wyniki: Wśród pacjentów w stadium zaawansowania choroby T1 i T2 słuch zachowało odpowiednio 67.4% oraz 37.5% (p=0.12). Stwierdzono istotnie statystycznie znaczącą korelację pomiędzy lepszymi wynikami badań audiologicznych a stosunkiem guza do pajęczynówki (łatwa do zidentyfikowania płaszczyzna preparacji). Nie stwierdzono istotnego statystycznie wpływu monitorowania śródoperacyjnego na wyniki l...

This case report illustrates the potential fallacy of attributing a patient's symptoms to an incidental finding. Serial imaging of small, asymptomatic cerebellopontine angle (CPA) lipomas is favored. It is imperative to accurately diagnose CPA lipoma on imaging and differentiate it from more common CPA lesions. We herein present a patient with symptoms consistent with Bell's palsy and an incide...

This report describes a 59-year old woman with a rare choroid plexus papilloma of the cerebellopontine angle presenting with trigeminal neuralgia. The patient was admitted complaining of a 12-year history of paroxysmal lancinating pain throughout the right side of her face. Treatment with carbamazepine, Chinese medicine and a peripheral neurectomy had not relieved the pain. At operation, a 0.5 ...

Intracranial squamous cell carcinoma is extremely rare, with most of the cases arising from malignant transformation of an epidermoid or a dermoid cyst. The patient presented with facial weakness. Initial magnetic resonance imaging revealed a mass in the right cerebellopontine angle. A subtotal resection was performed via right retrosigmoid suboccipital approach. Histopathological findings were...

Case Report An 11-year-old girl presented left-sided facial weakness. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a multiloculat...

Over the past 100 years, the evaluation and management of lateral skull base tumors have evolved tremendously. While most pathology involving the temporal bone and cerebellopontine angle is histologically benign, significant morbidity may occur as a result of disease progression or treatment. At the turn of the twentieth century, mortality from cerebellopontine angle tumor extirpation exceeded ...

Abstract BACKGROUND Meningiomas are the most common primary brain tumour, and patients requiring intervention typically undergo surgical resection as first-line therapy. However, fractionated radiotherapy (fRT) treatment remains an option for with larger tumours contraindications, although outcome prediction in this group uncertain. We aimed to assess clinical factors that contribute failure a ...
