To compress, improve bit error performance and also enhance 2D images, a new scheme, called Iterative Cellular-Turbo System (IC-TS) is introduced. In IC-TS, the original image is partitioned into 2N quantization levels, where N is denoted as bit planes. Then each of the N-bit-plane is coded by Turbo encoder and transmitted over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel. At the receiver side,...

In this paper, a chaos-based image encryption scheme with half-pixel-level interchange permutation strategy and plain-image dependence is proposed. The proposed image encryption scheme consists of a confusion process and a diffusion process. In the confusion process, a pixel-swapping operation between higher bit planes and lower bit planes is employed to replace the traditional confusion operat...

An optimized memory organization has been designed for the hierarchical coding of wavelet subbands. A better economy in time and resources can be accomplished by changing the RAM access pattern and using multiple location access at each clock instant. The bit-planes are distributed along the z-direction and the x − y plane contains 256 × 256 number of memory elements. The memory plane selection...

Zerotree coding is an intelligent approach for quantization of Discrete Wavelet coefficients and thus achieving image compression. Embedded Zerotree Coding by Shapiro [3] is very effective in this regard, having the property that the bits in the bit stream are generated in order of importance, yielding a fully embedded code. In this paper we have proposed a Modified Embedded Zerotree (MEZT) sch...

We describe a novel method for removing noise (in wavelet domain) of unknown variance from microarrays. The method is based on the following procedure: We apply 1) Bidimentional Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT-2D) to the Noisy Microarray, 2) scaling and rounding to the coefficients of the highest subbands (to obtain integer and positive coefficients), 3) bit-slicing to the new highest subbands ...

Background: A new method of immune-based therapies has been made and applied on multiple sclerosis patients in last decades. Some of these treatments have a high efficacy and reasonable side effects. In slowing disease progression, present treatments have significant limitations, but often associated with significant adverse effects of immunosuppression, with having a bit low capability to coun...

The method is based on the following procedure: We apply 1) Bidimentional Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT-2D) to the speckled image, 2) scaling and rounding to the coefficients of the highest subbands (to obtain integer and positive coefficients), 3) bit-slicing to the new highest subbands (to obtain bit-planes), 4) then we apply the Systholi...

The splitting a non-binary input image into a number of lower, but not neccessarily binary, resolution subgroups is explored as a technique to improve lossless compression. The idea is to accelerate the learning in the Markov models used as part of arithmetic coders. Our technique typically improves on the \standard" JBIG method of using single (Gray coded) bit planes by approximately 4%.
