Introduction: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are bacterial products with diverse biological roles. Like many microorganisms, Mycobacterium kansasii as a nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), can naturally release EVs. The aim of the present study was the extraction and biological evaluation of M. kansasii as a vaccine candidate against mycobacterial pulmonary infections. Methods: After bacterial cul...

The potential utility of synthetic macrocycles (MCs) as drugs, particularly against low-druggability targets such as protein-protein interactions, has been widely discussed. There is little information, however, to guide the design of MCs for good target protein-binding activity or bioavailability. To address this knowledge gap, we analyze the binding modes of a representative set of MC-protein...

Synthetic mesh products have been used to repair abdominal wall defects (eg, hernias) for many years. Biological mesh products are now available as an option when synthetic mesh products are not appropriate. To correctly prepare biological tissue grafts for use in the OR, perioperative nurses must understand the types of grafts available. Biological tissue grafts may be harvested from human, po...

Even though natural products has an excellent record as a source for new drugs, the advent of ultrahigh-throughput screening and large-scale combinatorial synthetic methods, has caused a decline in the use of natural products research in the pharmaceutical industry. This is due to the efficiency in generating and screening a high number of synthetic combinatorial compounds; whereas traditional ...

Streptococcus thermophilus MN-BM-A02 was originally isolated from a traditional fermented dairy product in China. The characteristics of this bacterium are its high acid-producing rate and low post-acidification. This study presents the genome sequence of MN-BM-A02. Its complete genome comprises 2,025 genes and 1,850,434 nucleotides with an average G+C content of 39%.

bioactive products from snail slime of “helix” specie have potential applications in preventing and/or treating several human diseases and in cancer diagnosis. however, the poor pharmacokinetics characteristics of these natural compounds limit their use. nanotechnology offers promising solutions for the enhanced formulation of these molecules through the synthesis of nanosized drug delivery sys...

Natural products have evolved, at least in part, to bind to biological macromolecules, particularly proteins. As a result, natural products are able to interact with many specific targets within the cell. Indeed for many years this has been central in the drug development process. Today, however, natural products are finding increasing use as probes to interrogate biological systems as part of ...

background diesel oil hydrocarbons are the most common contaminants of our biological environment. considering the fact that iran is one of the major producers of diesel oil products, it greatly contributes to soil and water pollution. currently, soil and water pollutions caused by diesel oil products leakage, from distribution stations, is one of the major concerns in iran. based on the studie...
