Thirty-seven patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) were treated with a standard Helicobacter pylori eradication regimen irrespective of H. pylori infection. Our results indicate that platelet recovery results from the disappearance of H. pylori itself, and is mediated, in part, through suppression of anti-platelet autoantibody production.
Background: Sudden Sensori-neural Hearing Loss (SSHL) is an abrupt failure of the cochlear function of unknown etiology. Possible causes include chronic infections leading to increased systemic levels of cytokines, which could damage the cochlear pumps H+, K+and Na+, K+ATPases. Helicobacter pylori infection stimulates systemic cytokine production. Proton pumps in cochlea and stomach are almost ...

Pernicious anemia, historically tied to vitamin B12 malabsorption due intrinsic factor secretion impairment, has evolved in understanding, especially concerning its association with autoimmune gastritis. This systematic review dives deep into the multifaceted relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, gastritis, and presence of anti-intrinsic factors anti-parietal cell anti...
background: helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) infection is thought to play an etiologic role in several gastroduodenal diseases including gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastric malt lymphoma, and distal gastric cancer. several studies have suggested that h. pylori which express cytotoxin-associated gene a (caga) may be more virulent than those that do not, but limited populations have been studie...
OBJECTIVE Regarding the interaction of Helicobacter pylori and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), we cannot accept unanimous conclusions in inducing gastric ulcer. We therefore evaluated the role of Helicobacter pylori and NSAIDs in inducing gastric ulcer. METHODS Dyspeptic patients receiving NSAIDs underwent endoscopic examination. Gastric ulcer formation and H. pylori status we...
BACKGROUND/AIMS We aimed to determine the etiology of patients with duodenal and gastric ulcers. METHODS 140 patients diagnosed with peptic ulcer between April 2002-2009 were enrolled in this prospective study. Two biopsy specimens were collected from the antrum and corpus for histology and one for rapid urease testing, and stool samples were analyzed for Helicobacter pylori antigen. Serum ca...
Background and Objective: Acne rosacea is a chronic skin disease with unknown etiology. Some reports have suggested an increased prevalence of helicobacter (H) pylori infection in patients with acne rosacea but it is controversial. This study was designed to compare the prevalence of H pylori between the acne rosacea patients and the healthy control group. Materials and Methods: This case-contr...
Because coinfections can alter helicobacter gastritis, we investigated whether enterohepatic Helicobacter bilis modulates Helicobacter pylori gastritis in C57BL/6 mice. Thirty mice per group were sham dosed, H. bilis or H. pylori infected, or H. bilis infected followed in 2 weeks by H. pylori and then evaluated at 6 and 11 months postinfection (mpi) for gastritis and premalignant lesions. Compa...
