background: the metabolically active tumor cells may be characterized by a pronounced adenosine release that regulates the growth and development of the tumor. consequently, the expression pattern of defined receptor subtypes will be an important determinant for specific effects of adenosine on the control of tumor cell growth. in recent studies, the expression profile, signal transduction, mol...

Methods Eighty-six patients with intermediate risk, angina pectoris, and suspected coronary artery disease were enrolled into the study. All patients were examined in a 3 T CMR system including functional imaging of the left ventricle, adenosine and rest perfusion imaging using a bolus of 0.075 mmol/kg gadolinium based contrast agent (Dotarem, Guerbet, France), respectively. CMR studies were pe...

C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.

Unligated side branches of the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) have been described in the literature as a cause of coronary steal resulting in angina. Despite a number of studies reporting successful side branch embolization to relieve symptoms, this phenomenon remains controversial. Hemodynamic evidence of coronary steal using angiographic and intravascular Doppler techniques has been supp...

adenosine has many of the characteristics of a regulator of cerebral blood flow and adenosine receptors change in morphine dependency. in this study the changes in adenosine receptors' responsiveness of pial vessels in the hind limb area of the sensory cortex were evaluated in morphine dependent rats (mdr) using the laser doppler flowmetry technique. adult male sprague dawley rats (250-350...

BACKGROUND To evaluate additional adenosine magnetic resonance perfusion (MRP) imaging in the diagnostic workup of patients with suspected stable angina with computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) as first-line diagnostic modality. METHODS AND RESULTS Two hundred and thirty symptomatic patients (male, 52%; age, 56 year) with suspected stable angina underwent CTCA. In patients with a ...

It is well known that the metabolic factors play an important role in the regulation of angiogenesis. Increased metabolic activity leads to decreased oxygen levels and causes tissue hypoxia. Hypoxia starts different signals to stimulate angiogenesis and promotes oxygen delivery to tissues. It has been suggested that released adenosine from hypoxic tissues plays a vital role in angiogenesis. ...
