This study evaluated the effect of 2 levels (0 vs. 8%) of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in a starter broiler diet (0 to 14 d; 45 replicates/treatment) after these same birds were subsequently fed a grower diet (14 to 28 d) with either 0, 7.5, 15, 22.5, or 30% DDGS (9 replicates/treatment). Ross×Ross 308 male broilers were used in this experiment, and evaluation criteria consisted...

Animal feed pellets containing lupin seed or alfalfa were added to ovitraps set in Cairns, Australia. Although they collected fewer Aedes eggs than Centers for Disease Control enhanced ovitraps, they did outperform tap water alone. A wooden tongue depressor collected comparable number of Aedes eggs as a Masonite board and seed germination paper.

Survival rate (SR) and growth rate (GR) were tested with various feed sources to identify an appropriate feed to improve the productivity in the early life stage of the rock worm Marphysa sanguinea (Montagu, 1813) (Eunicidae: Polychaeta). In addition, feed supply rates were also examined. Three experiments were performed to identify the appropriate feed for the juvenile stages of M. sanguinea. ...

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of broiler breeder feeding management practices on pullet performance, BW uniformity, and carcass traits during rearing (to 22 wk of age). At 3 wk of age, 1,200 Ross 308 breeder pullets were assigned to one of 5 treatments: 1) control: standard mash diet, fed daily; 2) high fiber: mash diet containing 25% lower nutrient density, fed daily; 3) scat...

The effects of substitution of seaweed, Sargassum ilicifolium, by replacing protein resources, in Litopenaeus vannameii diets was studied. It was carried out by incorporation of raw powdered seaweed at three levels, 0% as control treatment, 5% (C), 10% (B) and 15%(A)  each with four replications in isoprotein, (33%) and isocaloric (355kcal.100-1) diets.. Binder properties of seaweeds in differe...

Background and Aims: The current study was conducted to compare the expression levels of collagen type Π and X during chondrogenesis of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADMSCs) pellet and micromass cultures.  Materials and Methods: Extracted hADMSCs were cultured until three passages and then transferred to pellet and micromass cultures in the experimental groups of day 7 and day...

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of diets containing crude glycerol on pellet mill production efficiency and nursery pig growth performance. In a pilot study, increasing crude glycerol (0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15%) in a corn-soybean meal diet was evaluated for pellet mill production efficiency. All diets were steam conditioned to 65.5 degrees C and pelleted through a pellet ...

To safeguard against meat supply shortages during pandemics or other catastrophes, this study analyzed the potential to provide average household’s entire protein consumption using either soybean production distributed at household level in U.S. with: (1) pasture-fed rabbits, (2) pellet and hay-fed (3) pellet-fed chickens. Only backyard resources, cultivation can 80–160% of 0–50% a needs be pro...
