Protein sulfenic acids are reactive, reversibly oxidized cysteinyl residues with roles in redox catalysis and regulation. Detection and quantification of these species in proteins is accomplished through chemical modification by reagents such as 7-chloro-4-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole (NBD chloride), 2-nitro-5-thiobenzoate (TNB), dimedone, or derivatives of dimedone, followed by UV-visible spec...

Under secondary metabolic conditions, the white-rot basidiomycete Phanerochaete chrysosporium degraded 2,7-dichlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (I). The pathway for the degradation of I was elucidated by the characterization of fungal metabolites and oxidation products generated by lignin peroxidase (LiP), manganese peroxidase (MnP), and crude intracellular cell-free extracts. The multistep pathway involve...

[reaction: see text] Putative enantioenriched carbenoid species, (R)-1-chloro-2-phenylethylmagnesium chloride (9) and (S)-1-chloro-2-phenylethyllithium (26), generated in situ by sulfoxide ligand exchange from (-)-(R(S),R)-1-chloro-2-phenylethyl p-tolyl sulfoxide (8), effected the stereocontrolled homologation of boronic esters. sec-Alcohols derived from the product boronates by oxidation with ...

The one-pot cyclization of 5-hexynoic acid to produce 3-alkoxy-2-cyclohexenones proceeds in good yields (58-90%). 3-Hexynoic acid was converted to its acyl chloride with the aid of oxalyl chloride and was cyclized to 3-chloro-2-cyclohexenone upon addition of indium(III) chloride. Subsequent addition of alcohol nucleophiles led to the desired 3-alkoxy-2-cyclohexenones.

The title compound, C(9)H(12)ClN(4) (+)·Cl(-), is a natural metabolic product of imidacloprid [systematic name: (E)-1-(6-chloro-3-pyridyl-meth-yl)-N-nitro-imidazolidin-2-yl-idene-amine] and was obtained by the reduction of the latter using Fe in HCl. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and imidazole rings is 62.09 (12)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions...

Sixteen novel pyrazole acyl thiourea derivatives 6 were synthesized from monomethylhydrazine (phenylhydrazine) and ethyl acetoacetate. The key 5-chloro-3-methyl-1-substituted-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonyl chloride intermediates 4 were first generated in four steps through cyclization, formylation, oxidation and acylation. Thess were then reacted with ammonium thiocyanate in the presence of PEG-400 to ...

The structure of zinc chloride complexes with different ratios of chloride to zinc, formed in concentrated ZnCl2 aqueous solutions, were determined f rom large-angle X-ray scattering using concentrations of the chloride complexes estimated by complementary Raman spectroscopic measurements. The highest chloro complex, [ZnCl4]~, is tetrahedral with a Zn-Cl bond length of 2.294(4) Ä. The trichloro...
