Molecular line surveys and fully sampled spectral line maps at 1.3 and 0.87 mm are used to examine the physical and chemical characteristics of the extreme Class I sources IRAS 4A and 4B in the L1450/NGC 1333 molecular cloud complex. A very well collimated, jetlike molecular outflow emanates from IRAS 4A, with a dynamical age of a few thousand years. Symmetric, clumpy structure along the outf...

We observed the clustered star forming complex NGC1333 with the BIMA and FCRAO telescopes in the transitions HCO(1–0) and N2H (1–0) over an 11 × 11 area with resolution ∼ 10 (0.015 pc). The N2H emission follows very closely the submillimeter dust continuum emission, while HCO emission appears more spatially extended and also traces outflows. We have identified 93 N2H + cores using the CLUMPFIND...

Context. Magnetic fields are believed to play a crucial role in the process of star formation. Aims. We compare high-angular resolution observations of the submillimeter polarized emission of NGC 1333 IRAS 4A, tracing the magnetic field around a low-mass protostar, with models of the collapse of magnetized molecular cloud cores. Methods. Assuming a uniform dust alignment efficiency, we computed...

ABSTRACT Star formation is known to occur more readily where raw materials are available. This often expressed by a ‘Kennicutt–Schmidt’ relation the surface density of young stellar objects (YSOs) proportional column some power, ?. The aim this work was determine if alone sufficient explain locations Class 0/I YSOs within Serpens South, Core, Ophiuchus, NGC 1333, and IC348, or there clumping av...

We present 86.8 GHz SiO J=2-1 observations of the molecular outflow from the protostellar source NGC 1333 IRAS 2A. Silicon monoxide is a sensitive tracer of shocks in molecular gas, and the emission clearly traces terminal bow-shocks at the ends of the outflow lobes, as well as emission knots and a source coincident with the protostar. Our three-field mosaic from the BIMA interferometer covers ...
