Properties and temperature behavior of π and σ bound states are studied in the framework of the nonlocal model with a separable interaction kernel based on the quark Dyson-Schwinger and the meson Bethe-Salpeter equations. Mπ(T ), fπ(T ), Mσ(T ) and Γσ→ππ(T ) are considered above and below the deconfinement and chiral restoration transitions.
I review the ways that have been proposed to measure the quark transversity distribution in the nucleon. I then explain a proposal, developed by Xuemin Jin, Jian Tang and myself, to measure transversity through the final state interaction between two mesons (ππ, KK, or πK) produced in the current fragmentation region in deep inelastic scattering on a transversely polarized nucleon.
A note on the power divergence in lattice calculations of ∆ I = 1 / 2 K → ππ amplitudes at M K = M π
In this note, we clarify a point concerning the power divergence in lattice calculations of ∆I = 1/2 K → ππ decay amplitudes. There have been worries that this divergence might show up in the Minkowski amplitudes at MK = Mπ with all the mesons at rest. Here we demonstrate, via an explicit calculation in leading-order Chiral Perturbation Theory, that the power divergence is absent at the above k...
Recent reviews and predictions for this quantity in the Standard Model and earlier references are in . Here, we report on a calculation 3 of this quantity in the chiral limit and next-to-leading (NLO) order in 1/Nc. We also discuss the changes when the known chiral corrections -final state interactions (FSI) and π0 − η mixingare included. Direct CP-violation in the K → ππ decay amplitudes is pa...
There have been a number of recent experimental investigations of the nonadiabatic relaxation dynamics of aniline following excitation to the first three singlet excited states, 1(1)ππ*, 1(1)π3s/πσ* and 2(1)ππ*. Motivated by differences between the interpretations of experimental observations, we have employed CASSCF and XMCQDPT2 calculations to explore the potential energy landscape and relaxa...
The cis → trans photo-isomerisation of azobenzene, after excitation to the nπ* and ππ* states, is revisited theoretically using non-adiabatic dynamics simulations in order reproduce rationalize experimentally measured quantum yields.
We report the study of ee → Υ(1S)ππ, Υ(2S)ππ, Υ(3S)ππ, and Υ(1S)KK, near the peak of the Υ(5S) resonance. The results are based on a data sample of 21.7 fb collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB ee collider. Attributing the signals to the Υ(5S) resonance, the partial widths Γ(Υ(5S) → Υ(1S)ππ) = 0.59± 0.04(stat)± 0.09(syst) MeV and Γ(Υ(5S) → Υ(2S)ππ) = 0.85 ± 0.07(stat) ± 0.16(syst) MeV a...
We analyze the ππ production amplitudes in the excited Υ decay processes, Υ (2S) → Υ (1S)ππ, Υ (3S) → Υ (1S)ππ and Υ (3S) → Υ (2S)ππ, and the ππ and KK̄ production amplitudes in the charmonium decay processes, ψ(2S) → J/ψππ and J/ψ → φππ, φKK. The amplitudes are parametrized by the sum of Breit-Wigner amplitudes for the σ and the other relevant particles and of the direct 2π-production amplitude...
The experimental isoscalar ππ → ππ S-wave amplitude squared below 1.75 GeV is characterized by a very broad structure f0(4001200) with two narrow dips due to its destructive interference with the f0(980) and f0(1500). The f0(1370) and f0(1710) do not show up clearly in the ππ → ππ S-wave amplitude due to their weak coupling to ππ. This paper is about the controversial nature of the broad f0(400...
