In this paper, we show that the class of R-quadratic Finsler spaces is a proper subset of the class of generalized Douglas-Weyl spaces. Then we prove that all generalized Douglas-Weyl spaces with vanishing Landsberg curvature have vanishing the non-Riemannian quantity H, generalizing result previously only known in the case of R-quadratic metric. Also, this yields an extension of well-known Num...

This paper shows that the naturally induced discrete diierentia-tion operators induced from a wavelet-Galerkin nite-dimensional approximation to a standard function space approximates diierentiation with an error of order O(h 2d+2), where d is the degree of the wavelet system. The degree of a wavelet system is deened as one less than the degree of the lowest order non-vanishing moment of the fu...

This paper deals with singularities characterisation and detection in Electroglottogram (EGG) signal using wavelet transform modulus maxima. These singularities correspond to glottal opening and closure instants (GOIs and GCIs), Wavelets with one and two vanishing moments are applied to EGG signal. We show that wavelet with one vanishing moment is sufficient to detect singularities of EGG signa...

We build wavelet-like functions based on a parametrized family of pseudo-differential operators L~ν that satisfy some admissibility and scalability conditions. The shifts of the generalized B-splines, which are localized versions of the Green function of L~ν , generate a family of L-spline spaces. These spaces have the approximation order equal to the order of the underlying operator. A sequenc...

Waveform inversion to determine the seismic moment tensor is a standard approach in determining the source mechanism of natural and man-made seismicity. The moment tensor is a general representation that includes the double-couple (DC) and non-double-couple sources such as explosions, opening and closing cracks, and volume compensated linear vector dipoles (CLVD). Previous studies (Ford et al.,...

A man-made environment is characterized by a lot of parallel lines and a lot of orthogonal edges. In this article, a new method for detecting the three mutual orthogonal directions of such an environment is presented. Since realtime performance is not necessary for architectural application, like building reconstruction, a computationally more intensive approach was chosen. On the other hand, o...

Commencing with a review of methods for vanishing point (VP) detection, a new approach is suggested. The proposed approach estimates the location of candidate vanishing points and provides probability measures which reflect the likelihood of those points being the VPs. This new approach allows VPs to be identified in less structured environments compared with its conventional counterparts.

We consider some implications of the departure from spherical symmetry for static solutions vacuum Einstein's equations describing black hole mimickers. In particular, we investigate how presence mass quadrupole moment affects collision energy test particles. show that processes in vicinity such exotic compact sources with non vanishing may be significantly different those holes.

We use sensitive dynamic cantilever magnetometry to measure the magnetic hysteresis of individual Janus particles. These particles consist hemispherical caps material deposited on micrometer-scale silica spheres. The measurements, combined with corresponding micromagnetic simulations, reveal configurations present in these curved magnets. In remanence, ferromagnetic are found host a global vort...
