we study the problem of reconstructing binary images from four projections data in a fuzzy environment. given the uncertainly projections,w e want to find a binary image that respects as best as possible these projections. we provide an iterative algorithm based on fuzzy integer programming and linear membership functions.

the linear multiobjective transportation problem is a special type of vector minimum problem in which constraints are all equality type and the objectives are conicting in nature. this paper presents an application of fuzzy goal programming to the linear multiobjective transportation problem. in this paper, we use a special type of nonlinear (hyperbolic and exponential) membership functions to ...

In neuro-fuzzy approaches different membership functions are used for modeling the system's rule set. Two wellknown membership function types are triangle functions and trapezoid functions. In our contribution we demonstrate that trapezoid functions with larger core regions are the more appropriate functions for calculating the membership degrees within neuro-fuzzy systems. If regions of the da...

In this paper, we propose a novel fuzzy expert system for detection of Coronary Artery Disease, using cuckoo search algorithm. This system includes three phases: firstly, at the stage of fuzzy system design, a decision tree is used to extract if-then rules which provide the crisp rules required for Coronary Artery Disease detection. Secondly, the fuzzy system is formed by setting the intervals ...

In this paper a novel power management method for an electric vehicle (EV) equipped with two energy storage systems is presented. In this way, an optimized nonlinear controller based on fuzzy system is developed. The main stage to design a fuzzy controller is proper determination of fuzzy rules and membership functions that in this paper, the fuzzy rules and input and output membership function...

In this paper a fraud detection method is proposed which user behaviors are modeled using two main components namely the un-normal trend analysis component and scenario based component. The extent of deviation of a transaction from his/her normal behavior is estimated using fuzzy membership functions. The results of applying all membership functions on a transaction will then be infused and a f...

The elicitation method of the fuzzy membership function depends on the interpretation of the membership function. This paper applies a recently developed neural network framework, Plausible Neural Network (PNN), to generate fuzzy membership functions automatically with or without class labeling based on the similarity and likelihood measurement. The approach combining supervised and unsupervise...

AbsrractConventional fuzzy logic controller uses input membership functions that consist of identical triangular input membership functions (MF) for all the subsets that are not located at the two ends of the universal set (center width constant or CWC). Some researchers in the field of motor controllers have started using narrower base triangular membership functions for the input subsets that...

This paper proposes an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) for predicting the surface roughness in turning operation for set of given cutting parameters, namely cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Two different membership functions, triangular and bell shaped, were adopted during the training process of ANFIS in order to compare the prediction accuracy of surface roughness by t...

The shapes of terms used in fuzzy systems have adopted several ‘conventions’. Terms are almost invariably normalised (having a maximum membership value of 1), convex (having a single maximum or plateau maxima) and distinct (being restricted in their degree of overlap: often expressed as some variation on the concept that all membership values at any point in the universe of discourse sum to 1 a...
