We present a graph-based semi-supervised label propagation algorithm for acquiring opendomain labeled classes and their instances from a combination of unstructured and structured text sources. This acquisition method significantly improves coverage compared to a previous set of labeled classes and instances derived from free text, while achieving comparable precision.

We present Outilex, a generalist linguistic platform for text processing. The platform includes several modules implementing the main operations for text processing and is designed to use large-coverage Language Resources. These resources (dictionaries, grammars, annotated texts) are formatted into XML, in accordance with current standards. Evaluations on efficiency are given.

We present in this paper the methodology and results of a duration study designed for the Mandarin Chinese Text-to-speech system of Bell Laboratories. A greedy algorithm is used to select text from on-line corpora to maximize the coverage of factors that are important to the study of duration. The duration model and some interesting results will be discussed.

As part of the Text-to-Speech research at Edinburgh University's Centre for Speech Technology Research (EU_CSTR), a modular, linguistic knowledge based text-to-phoneme system has been implemented in Prolog. Its design considerations, the structure and coverage of its rule bases and typical output from the system are described in the body of this paper.

Abstract Vocabulary knowledge is one of the most important elements reading comprehension. Text coverage proportion known words in a given text. We hypothesize that text comprehension increases exponentially with due to network effects and activation prior knowledge. In addition, lexical threshold hypothesis states faster above certain amount coverage. The exponential relationship between compr...

In this paper, we introduce our Recognizing Textual Entailment (RTE) system developed on the basis of Lexical Entailment between two text excerpts, namely the hypothesis and the text. To extract atomic parts of hypotheses and texts, we carry out syntactic parsing on the sentences. We then utilize WordNet and FrameNet lexical resources for estimating lexical coverage of the text on the hypothesi...

This paper reports on our Recognizing Textual Entailment (RTE) system developed for participation in the Text Analysis Conference RTE 2009 competition. The development of the system is based on the lexical entailment between two text excerpts, namely the hypothesis and the text. To extract atomic parts of hypotheses and texts, we carry out syntactic parsing on the sentences. We then utilize Wor...

We describe an expanded taxonomy of semiotic classes for text normalization, building upon the work in [1]. We add a large number of categories of non-standard words (NSWs) that we believe a robust real-world text normalization system will have to be able to process. Our new categories are based upon empirical findings encountered while building text normalization systems across many languages,...
