Because of many features of handicap, such as the number of actors and interactions, the complexity of the field, handicap must be considered from a system point of view, and dealt with as any system. That makes it possible to build a comprehensive response to the question of the inclusion and full citizenship of people with disabilities, better than some fragmentary solutions often proposed. T...

A great deal of forensic psychology concerns sequences of behaviours or events. In this paper, we review some recent efforts to examine forensic issues as sequences, discuss some of the contemporary methodologies involved, and highlight some of the lessons that emerge from this research. Specifically, we show: (i) how research on public violence has benefited from studying incidents as patterns...

Networks have attracted a great deal of attention the last decade, and play an important role in various scientific disciplines. Ranking nodes in such networks, based on for example PageRank or eigenvector centrality, remains a hot topic. Not only does this have applications in ranking web pages, it also allows peer-to-peer systems to have effective notions of trust and reputation and enables a...

Research on methods for representing natural objects and phenomena by computer graphics (CG) has been steadily broadening the scope of represented objects in recent years. Among such research, visual simulation of rocky scenery is an important issue that has a wide range of applications related to visual contents, such as in landscape simulation. In the early days of research on terrain scenery...

This paper proposes a method for animating leaf structural deformation considering the leaf water content and its change due to evaporation. To achieve this we embed a massspring system into a mesh representing the leaf, and couple the mass-spring parameters with a simulation representing the fluid flow and evaporation occurring in the leaf. This chain of events aims to simulate the natural pro...

We propose a method to incromantally compute and use, during the concept formation, the relevance of a concept property. This relevance is computed through the account of the property correlation with other ones and it is used by the concept quality function in order to improve predictive accuracy. The proposed approach is analyzed contenting both the wediction power of the generated concepts a...

Graph kernels provides a framework combining machine learning and graph theory. However, kernels based upon the molecular graph, which can not distinguish stereoisomers, are unable to predict properties which differs among stereoisomers. This article presents a graph kernel which takes into account chirality, and is used (in combination with a classical graph kernel) to predict the optical rota...
