AbstractObjective: Research has revealed that obesity changed the repair mechanism of DNA chain breaks. Also, increase in body mass index is found out to be associated with genomic instability. In this study, it was aimed investigate possible genotoxic damage overweight individuals.Material and Methods: present study level calculated Turkish adult peripheral blood samples using Single Cell Gel ...

We consider positively supported Borel measures for which all moments exist. On the set of compactly in this class a partial order is defined via eventual dominance moment sequences. Special classes are identified on total, but it shown that already distributions with smooth densities not total. In particular we construct pair density infinitely many agree and another one alternate often. This ...

This paper considers how to measure the magnitude of the sum of independent random variables in several ways. We give a formula for the tail distribution for sequences that satisfy the so called Lévy property. We then give a connection between the tail distribution and the pth moment, and between the pth moment and the rearrangement invariant norms.

Wind tunnel tests conducted on a model based on the long-eared bat Plecotus auritus indicated that the positioning of the tail membrane (uropatagium) can significantly influence flight control. Adjusting tail position by increasing the angle of the legs ventrally relative to the body has a two-fold effect; increasing leg-induced wing camber (i.e., locally increased camber of the inner wing surf...

In this paper, we introduce a new risk measure, the so-called Conditional Tail Moment. It is de-fined as the moment of order a ≥ 0 of the loss distribution above the upper α-quantile whereα ∈ (0, 1). Estimating the Conditional Tail Moment permits to estimate all risk measuresbased on conditional moments such as Conditional Tail Expectation, Conditional Value-at-Risk or Condi...

We study the class of logarithmic skew-normal (LSN) distributions. They have heavy tails; however, all their moments of positive integer orders are finite. We are interested in the problem of moments for such distributions. We show that the LSN distributions are all nonunique (moment-indeterminate). Moreover, we explicitly describe Stieltjes classes for some LSN distributions; they are families...

Stable aqueous suspensions of colloidal C60 fullerenes free of toxic organic solvents were prepared by two methods: ethanol to water solvent exchange (EthOH/nC60 suspensions) and extended mixing in water (aqu/nC60 suspensions). The extended mixing method resulted in the formation of larger (dp approximately 178 nm) and less negatively charged (zeta approximately -13.5 mV) nC60 colloids than nC6...

The widespread use of pesticides in agriculture represents a threat to the human populations exposed to them. In this cross-sectional study, the hematological and biochemical parameters, plasma cholinesterase (PChE) activity, oxidative stress, genotoxicity, and NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) C609T polymorphism were measured in 100 greenhouse workers occupationally exposed to pesticide...

For a GARCH(1,1) sequence or an AR(1) model with ARCH(1) errors, it is known that the observations have a heavy tail and the tail index is determined by an estimating equation. Therefore, one can estimate the tail index by solving the estimating equation with unknown parameters replaced by quasi maximum likelihood estimation (QMLE), and profile empirical likelihood method can be employed to eff...
