In this paper, several key technologies of optical burst switching (OBS) network are implemented and experimentally verified. The TCP performance over OBS is experimentally investigated on this testbed and multi-QoS traffic transmission on the testbed are demonstrated as well. Currently, an interconnection experiment between OBS and GMPLS network are also reported.

This paper presents the QoS differentiated Adaptive Scheduled Optical Burst Switching (QAS-OBS) paradigm that efficiently supports dynamic grid applications. (QAS-OBS) paradigm enables differentiated-services optical burst switching via two-way reservation and adaptive QoS control in distribute wavelength-routed networks. Based on the network loading status, the edge nodes dynamically optimize ...

A switching network of depth d is a layered graph with d layers and n vertices in each layer. The edges of the switching network do not cross between layers and in each layer the edges form a partial matching. A switching network defines a stochastic process over Sn that starts with the identity permutation and goes through the layers of the network from first to last, where for each layer and ...

This paper investigates how consumer switching costs affect firms’ compatibility choices and social welfare in network industries. Firms face a choice between two modes of competition: make their networks incompatible and compete fiercely for market dominance, or make their networks compatible and have mild competition. By incentivizing firms to harvest their locked-in consumers rather than pri...

This paper analyzes competition in a two-period differentiated-products duopoly in the presence of both switching costs and network effects. Consumers are assumed to have rational expectation about network sizes, and future prices. The equilibrium prices in both periods are lower than markets with just switching costs and they decrease with the magnitude of network effects. Hence, in any period...

This document provides an overview of a novel approach to network layer packet forwarding, called tag switching. The two main components of the tag switching architecture forwarding and control are described. Forwarding is accomplished using simple label-swapping techniques, while the existing network layer routing protocols plus mechanisms for binding and distributing tags are used for control...
