BACKGROUND Impact of kidney transplantation on survival of French end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients is unknown. METHODS A total of 1495 adults living in the Lorraine region and starting renal replacement therapy from 1997 to 2003 were included. A propensity score (PS) of registration on the renal transplant waiting list was estimated. Patient survival was studied using a time-dependent ...
Tires represent a critical spare part in mines. There is a shortage of medium and large tires. In addition, with increased mining activities and the creation of new mines, the demand for tires has increased significantly. Thus, it is particularly important for mining engineers to identify tire characteristics and correctly manage the spare part inventory. Spare parts management is critical from...
Affine term structure models have gained a lot of attention in the finance literature, which is due to their analytic tractability and statistical flexibility. The aim of this article is to present both, theoretical foundations and empirical aspects. Starting from the first short rate models, namely the Vasiček and the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross ones, we then give an overview of some properties of affi...
Introduction: The most important models used in analysis of survival data is proportional hazards models. Applying this model requires establishment of the relevance proportional hazards assumption, otherwise it world lead to incorrect inference. This study aims to evaluate Cox and Weibull models which are used in identification of effective factors on survival time in acute leukemia. Me...
The proportional hazard Cox regression models play a key role in analyzing censored survival data. We use penalized methods in high dimensional scenarios to achieve more efficient models. This article reviews the penalized Cox regression for some frequently used penalty functions. Analysis of medical data namely ”mgus2” confirms the penalized Cox regression performs better than the cox regressi...
In this work, we analyze two important and simple models of short rates, namely Vasicek and CIR models. The models are described and then the sensitivity of the models with respect to changes in the parameters are studied. Finally, we give the results for the estimation of the model parameters by using two different ways.
T he term structure models discussed in our previous article (“Term Structure of Interest Rates,” MiER Vol. 7, No. 3) such as the [Vasicek 1978] or the [CoxIngersoll-Ross 1985] model may not match the current term structure. The Black-Derman-Toy (BDT) and BlackKarasinksi models discussed in this article are important examples of models in which the current term structure can always be replicated.
The primary objective of this work was to investigate and compare the use of the Cox proportional hazards model and Aalen’s additive model in analysing survival data. Survival data from a study of 52 patients with advanced breast cancer was investigated using the Cox proportional hazards model. The model was optimized by examining different aspects by use of appropriate residual plots. Covariat...
PURPOSE To control for confounding bias from non-random treatment assignment in observational data, both traditional multivariable models and more recently propensity score approaches have been applied. Our aim was to compare a propensity score-stratified model with a traditional multivariable-adjusted model, specifically in estimating survival of hemodialysis (HD) versus peritoneal dialysis (P...
BACKGROUND The role of uric acid (UA) in the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains controversial due to the unavoidable cause and result relationship. This study was aimed to clarify the independent impact of UA on the subsequent risk of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) by a propensity score analysis. METHODS A retrospective CKD cohort was used (n = 803). Baseline 23 covariates we...
