In order to maintain cab comfort truck drivers have to idle their engine to obtain the required power for accessories, such as the air conditioner, heater, television, refrigerator, and lights. This idling of the engine has a major impact on its fuel consumption and exhaust emission. Idling emissions can be as high as 86.4 g/h, 16,500 g/h, 5130 g/h, 4 g/h, and 375 g/h for HC, CO2, CO, PM, and N...

greenhouse gases emissions from burning fossil fuels and the effect of these gases on climate change is one of the most important ecological and political issues. in this study the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from tillage and soybean planting were assessed in gorgan. this study is done on 13 soybean farms in 2012. information related to tillage and planting operations were p...

Fuel consumption is one of the main contemporary issues in transportation sector. Because the fuel is subsidized in Iran, reducing fuel consumption has benefits for both the government and private sector. One of the most important areas of fuel consumption is the industry scope. In this area, reducing fuel consumption has important benefits such as reducing the total costs of finished products ...

in recent years, reducing emissions has become an important issue. besides reducing the economic costs, reducing the fuel consumption decreases emissions, pollutant impact and increases society health as well. green vehicle routing problem are a major key to reduce hazardous effects of transportation such as air pollution, greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions, noise and the like. generally, the amoun...

In this study, the effects of injection pressure and timing on the performance and emission characteristics of a DI diesel engine using methanol (5%, 10% and 15%) blended-diesel fuel were investigated. The tests were conducted on three different injection pressures (180, 200 and 220 bar) and timings (15 , 20 , and 25 CA BTDC) at 20 Nm engine load and 2200 rpm. The results indicated that brake s...

Voyage optimization is a technology to predict the ship performance in various sea states and current conditions, and based on the performance of the ship to assist ship masters in route selection. The targets of increasing energy efficiency and reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emission in the shipping industry can be achieved by voyage optimization. However, the practical and accurate prediction...

The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum intake valve closing time of a large diesel engine having lower fuel consumption and lower NOx emission. The performance simulation has been conducted for this purpose, and a phenomenological combustion model is verified by experimental data of heat release rate and NOx emission in order to enhance the prediction quality of the performance s...

This study focuses on the physicochemical fuel characteristics and engine performance-emission features of three prospective alternative transportation fuels: Alexandrian laurel biodiesel (ALBD), jatropha biodiesel (JBD) and GTL fuel at high idling conditions. The blends of GTL fuel (G10, G20), JBD (J10, J20) and ALBD (AL10, AL20) with diesel had been investigated in a multi-cylinder diesel eng...

AbstractStringent emission norms and environment degradation due to pollutants from the automotive vehicles lead us to find the suitable alternative for the petro-diesel. The oxygenated fuel used is dibutyl ether(DBE). While injection pressure is 200 bar and injection timing is 20.5 0 BTDC we get higher brake thermal efficiency and lower brake specific fuel consumption for DBE10 compare to diesel.
