Solitary fibrous tumor of the liver is a rare neoplasm which has been reported in only 27 patients in the English literature. A limited number of reports have described the radiological findings of this tumor. We report the radiological and pathological findings in a patient with solitary fibrous tumor located in the liver.
CONTEXT Solitary fibrous tumor of the central nervous system is uncommon, with only around 200 reported cases. Further, extracranial metastasis is extremely rare, and only 5 cases of hematogenous metastases have been reported so far. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no reports of solitary fibrous tumor of the central nervous system metastasizing to the pancreas. CASE REPORT A 62-...
We report a case of pancreatic hamartoma-like solitary fibrous tumor which was differentiated from pancreatic hamartoma with the detection of NAB2-STAT6 fusion, a specific mutation for solitary fibrous tumors. A pancreatic well-demarcated solid nodule, 21 × 17 mm, of 82-year-old man was surgically enucleated. Microscopic findings were close to a pancreatic hamartoma that consisted of sparsely d...
•Solitary fibrous tumors are typically indolent tumors of the pleura.•Primary origin in the female reproductive organs is rare, as are aggressive forms.•We report a case of a vulvar solitary fibrous tumor, notable for extensive spinal metastasis.
We read with great interest a recently published article by Lecoutere et al [1] entitled “multifocal cytokeratin expression in pleural and abdominal malignant solitary fibrous tumor: an unusual diagnostic pitfall”. Authors showed three histologically and immunohistochemically welldocumented cases of pleural and abdominal malignant solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) with unexpected multifocal expressi...
INTRODUCTION Solitary fibrous tumors are rare soft tissue tumors of submesothelial origin and variable malignant potential. The most common localization is pleural, whereas only 0.6% are of extrapleural localization. Solitary fibrous tumor of the peritoneum, especially of gastric serosa is an extremely rare form of this tumor. CASE REPORT We presented a 65-year-old female patient with solitar...

Rationale: Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are rare spindle cell tumors that are most commonly found in the mediastinal pleura. Although there are increasingly more reports of extra-pleural SFTs, reports of SFTs in bone are very rare. To our knowledge, a SFT of the ilium has not yet been reported. With low specificity on computer tomograpy and magnetic resonance imaging, SFTs are easily misdiagn...
