A membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for hydrogen fuel cells has been fabricated using single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) support and platinum catalyst. Films of SWCNTs and commercial platinum (Pt) black were sequentially cast on a carbon fiber electrode (CFE) using a simple electrophoretic deposition procedure. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy showed that the nanotubes a...

In this study, the dynamic buckling of the embedded laminated nanocomposite plates is investigated. The plates are reinforced with the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), and the Mori-Tanaka model is applied to obtain the equivalent material properties of them. Based on the sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT), the motion equations are derived using the energy method and Hamilton's p...

Photocatalytic activity in the reduction of CO(2) with H(2)O to CH(4) was significantly enhanced by simply adding MgO to TiO(2) loaded with Pt. A positive correlation between CH(4) formation activity and basicity was observed. The interface between TiO(2), Pt and MgO in the trinary nanocomposite played a crucial role in CO(2) photocatalytic reduction.

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed to investigate the interfacial binding between the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and conjugated polymers including polythiophene (PT), polypyrrole (PP), poly(2,6-pyridinylenevinylene-co-2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylenevinylene) (PPyPV), and poly(m-phenylenevinylene-co-2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylenevinylene) (PmPV). The intermolecular interactio...

Microelectrodes have been used for over 30 years of glucose biosensor history. Two different types of glucose biosensors were developed using 176μm and 25μm diameter Pt wire cylindrical microelectrodes. The 176 μm Pt wire type microelectrodes were modified with non-conductive polymers and glucose oxidase enzyme. The lifetime of biosensors was over 50 days and had negligible response to interfer...

A feasible and fast method to fabricate hydrogen peroxide sensor was investigated by graphene-manganase nanocomposite carbone paste electrode. In the present work, in first step, the graphene was synthesized by chemical method and in second step, manganese oxide nanoparticle was doped on graphene. graphene-manganase nanocomposite was characterized by FTIR and SEM. The nanocomposite shows a high...

A multi-functional luminol-reduced Pt@Au hybrid flower-like nanocomposite (luminol-Pt@AuNF) which not only acts as an efficient signal probe but also constitutes a pseudobienzyme amplifying system with choline oxidase (ChOx) was firstly synthesized and applied to the construction of a solid-state luminol electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor for cardiac troponin I (cTnI) detection.

A novel porous fluorine doped tin oxide (PFTO) conductive framework was introduced to counter electrodes (CEs) for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). When modified by platinum (Pt) or carbon (C), the PFTO conductive framework displays high catalytic activity to I(-)/I3(-) redox couples. Power conversion efficiencies of 6.09% and 5.81% were obtained in the DSSCs based on Pt and C modified PFTO ...

While production and use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is increasing, workers exposure to CNTs is expected to increase as well, with inhalation being potentially the main pathway for uptake. However, there have been few studies reporting results about workers' personal exposure to CNTs. In this study, worker exposure to single-walled CNTs (SWCNTs) during the production of conductive films in a mod...
