Heating rates of 20-30 "C gave satisfactory results for several additives, but no effort was made to establish an optimum heating rate. Extraction of polypropylene pellets with acetonitrile a t room temperature overnight gave clear evidence for the additives, but the extraction was approximately 2% efficient. Extraction with boiling decalin (4, 5) gave 0.053 wt 70 UV-531 in this sample. The sam...

Crystallization in the presence of additives like surfactants and polymers is a relatively less explored area but is important for polymorphic screening of a compound during its developmental stage. Surfactants and polymers act by various mechanisms to influence either the growth or the nucleation phase, resulting in modification of either the polymorphic form or the crystal habit. The present ...

We report the synthesis of a superparamagnetic nanoparticle MNP (γ-Fe(2)O(3)/polymer) supported dendritic catalyst based on a bulky electron-rich phosphine Pd(II) complex. The high reactivity of this catalyst is described in a copper-free Sonogashira C-C cross-coupling reaction in water, and the significant role of surfactant additives is highlighted in the recovery study.

We present an introductory overview of several challenging problems in the statistical characterisation of turbulence. We provide examples from fluid turbulence in three and two dimensions, from the turbulent advection of passive scalars, turbulence in the one-dimensional Burgers equation, and fluid turbulence in the presence of polymer additives.

This paper focuses on current trends in the flame retardancy of epoxy-based thermosets. This review examines the incorporation of additives in these polymers, including synergism effects. Reactive flame-retardants-which are incorporated in the polymer backbone-are reported and the use of fire-retardant epoxy coatings for materials protection is also considered.

One of the newest of viscoelastic RANS turbulence models for drag reducing channel flow with polymer additives is studied in different flow and rheological properties. In this model, finitely extensible nonlinear elastic-Peterlin (FENE-P) constitutive model is used to describe the viscoelastic effect of polymer solution and turbulence model is developed in the k-ϵ-(ν^2 ) ̅-f framework. The geome...

Plasticizers are small molecules with low molecular weight. These compounds typically have an esteric structure. The plasticizers reduce the glass transition temperature and the viscosity of the polymer to enhance the flexibility and processability of polymer materials. The main problem with these additives is that, over time, they migrate from the polymeric matrix and exude to the surface of p...

Group VII atom containing polymers such as chlorine rubber, and fluorine rubber tend to show a high degree polarity due to their high molar attraction constants [1]. Their practical applications include molded parts, cable, hose, o-rings, etc., which require chemical resistance. In molding the final products, there are several problems such as shrinkage, porosity, blisters, poor knitting, backr...

Metals, such as copper and silver, can be extremely toxic to bacteria at exceptionally low concentrations. Because of this biocidal activity, metals have been widely used as antimicrobial agents in a multitude of applications related with agriculture, healthcare, and the industry in general. Unlike other antimicrobial agents, metals are stable under conditions currently found in the industry al...

In many lubrication processes, lubricating oils containing polymer additives are subject to high shear rate through very small clearance channels. While the influence of shear rate on the performance of these lubricants has been well examined, very little is known about the effects of channel size. In this study a specially designed microchannel viscometer has been used to experimentally charac...
