The current acceleration of the Universe is one of the most puzzling issues in theoretical physics nowadays. We are far from giving an answer in this letter to the question of its nature. Yet, with the observations we have at hand, we analyse the different patterns that the gravitational potential can show in the future. Surprisingly, gravity not only can get weaker in the near future, it can e...

In this paper, we use the time super-operator formalism in the 2-level Friedrichs model [1] to obtain a phenomenological model of mesons decay. Our approach provides a fairly good estimation of the CP symmetry violation parameter in the case of K, B and D mesons. We also propose a crucial test aimed at discriminating between the standard approach and the time super-operator approach developed t...

By employing recent data on non-mesonic decay of s-shell Λ-hypernuclei we study, within the phenomenological model of Block and Dalitz, the validity of the ∆I = 1/2 rule in the ΛN → N N process. Due to the low experimental precision, a possible violation of this rule can be neither proved nor excluded at present with sufficient accuracy: a pure ∆I = 1/2 transition amplitude is excluded at 40% c...

A few years ago (while researching embodied cognition) I focused for some time on disorders of experience, which affect representation or beliefs regarding one’s own body. One of the most fascinating and dramatic disorders was somatoparaphrenia (sometimes also astomatognosia) (Feinberg 2002). This disorder is when the patient believes that, for example, his hand is his aunt’s or wife’s hand. Or...

Since the development of the phenomenological method by Husserl, a variety of thinkers and researchers have contributed to an intense debate regarding the ontological and epistemological bases of Phenomenology, as well as its applicability to the inquiry of the human condition. This dialogue has spun an area of phenomenological research known as existentialphenomenological psychology, which has...

Qualitative research comes with various forms and faces, and, fortunately, there now exist numerous books that deal with issues related to qualitative research. Not that many books, however, deal explicitly and extensively with the transformation and application of principles of phenomenology and hermeneutics. Reflective Lifeworld Research is written as a response to this apparent need. It is, ...

Phenomenology questions the basic foundations of Modernity. In particular, it challenges Descartes‘ attempt to found the scientific method with absolute certainty. Phenomenology is defined by the work of Husserl, Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty. Even though each of them developed their own way within Phenomenology, their theories are determined by a critique of the Cartesian method. For them, Desc...

We discuss the possibility of a smooth transition from the preto the post-big bang regime, in the context of the lowest-order string effective action (without higher-derivative corrections), taking into account with a phenomenological model of source the repulsive gravitational effects due to the back-reaction of the quantum fluctuations outside the horizon. We determine a set of necessary cond...

The paper shows that a phenomenological model of inertial induction based on a proposed extension of Mach’s Principle can produce the observed cosmological red shift in a quasi-static infinite universe. Unlike all other theories (except the Doppler effect) to explain the observed red shift this model can be verified from other local effects predicted by this mechanism. A number of such phenomen...

The spin dynamics of the ferromagnetic pinned layer of ferro-antiferromagnetic coupled NiFe/MnNi bilayers is investigated in a broad frequency range (30 MHz-6 GHz). A phenomenological model based on the Landau-Lifshitz equation for the complex permeability of the F/AF bilayer is proposed. The experimental results are compared to theoretical predictions.
