The paper proposes a novel staggered phase-field framework for modelling brittle and ductile fractures in monotonic cyclic loading regimes. algorithm consists of two mesh layers (displacement phase field) single special-purpose, user-defined finite element, which controls global convergence the coupled problem passing solution variables between layers. proposed is implemented into FE software A...
within the effective-field theory with correlations (eft), a transverse random field spin-1 ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. the phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization, internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.
Abstract Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to review a sample of the literature relating to Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and its deployment for modelling purposes in the area of supply chain management (SCM). Design/methodology/approach- The literature is examined from the three perspectives. First, concept of ISM and examines ISM as modelling technique. Second, use of ISM by ...
Abstract. The dynamics of dendritic growth of a crystal in an undercooled melt is determined by macroscopic diffusion-convection of heat and by capillary forces acting on the nanometer scale of the solid-liquid interface width. Its modelling is useful for instance in processing techniques based on casting. The phase-field method is widely used to study evolution of such microstructural phase tr...
A Lattice Boltzmann method is applied to demonstrate the comparison results of simulating natural convection in an open end cavity using different hydrodynamic and thermal boundary conditions. The Prandtl number in the present simulation is 0.71, Rayleigh numbers are 104,105 and 106 and viscosities are selected 0.02 and 0.05. On-Grid bounce-back method with first-order accuracy and non-slip met...
A few of the current dificulties associated with first order phase transformations are reviewed in the context of the facilities offered by fine scale microanalytical techniques. The aim is to stimulate cooperation between those who are experts in field ion microscopy and associated techniques, and others involved in the modelling of phase transformations and microstructures.
This work presents a unique approach for the modelling of the austenitisation of martensite in dual-phase steels within the phase-field method. Driving forces for nucleation and growth are derived from thermodynamic databases. Routines for nucleation are based on a discretisation of the classical nucleation theory. Validation is given via dilatometric experiments.
Understanding the phase transformation pathways (PTPs) and microstructural evolution in multi-phase HEAs will aid alloy process designs to tailor microstructures for specific engineering applications. In this work, we study two-phase where a disordered parent separates into mixture of two phases: an ordered ($\beta'$) + ($\beta$) upon cooling following different PTPs: (i) congruent ordering fol...
We study the competition of quark-antiquark and diquark condensates under the influence of an external chromomagnetic field modelling the gluon condensate and in dependence on the chemical potential and temperature. As our results indicate, an external chromomagnetic field might produce remarkable qualitative changes in the picture of the color superconducting phase formation. PACS: 12.38.-t, 1...
