The spindle pole body (SPB) of budding yeast duplicates once per cell cycle. In G1, the satellite, an SPB precursor, assembles next to the mother SPB (mSPB) on the cytoplasmic side of the nuclear envelope (NE). How the growing satellite subsequently inserts into the NE is an open question. To address this, we have uncoupled satellite growth from NE insertion. We show that the bridge structure t...

The 42-kD component of the S. cerevisiae spindle pole body (SPB) localizes to the electron-dense central plaque of the SPB (Rout, M.P., and J.V. Kilmartin. 1991. Cold Spring Harbor Symp. Quant. Biol. 56:687--691). We have cloned the corresponding gene SPC42 (spindle pole component) and show that it is essential. Seven temperature-sensitive (ts) mutants in SPC42 were prepared by error-prone PCR....

it is not possible to understand developments of a country’s culture and civilization without knowing his believes and myths. whether it is north or south, east or west, planes or mountains, sahara or deserts, here in iran every corner includes valuable and precious treasures which are known all over the world, and cultural – historical objects which are found here adorn all well known museums of the globe. zagros mountains, lorestan province locating at the heart of that, are not only the same, but are more prominent than other iranian regions. you can not find someone who does not know what the lorestani bronzes are, and there is no museum that not be pride of having a piece of that. the said bronzes which are manufactured four millenniums b.c. are admired nearly by all those researchers because of their beauty, diversity and technique. lorestani artistic works including stone engraves, bronzes and clays, show an ideal and metaphysical world beside real world which explain mental system of human beings on that era against sensations and phenomena happening around them. men main mental occupation on that time was he unknown world which had surrounded them, and they used to use the religion to fight life’s natural factors, and art was a tool of religious and mythical painting which was far from reality and had entered into the abstract domain. as natural objects have become subjects of lorestani art, it cleanses them from any non – intrinsic limitations and external factors which surround them and darken their meanings, and just shows their main specifications. artist in the said civilization is not searching for realism. although these are few works showing the nature, but in effect there is no wish to imitate touchable factors of the nature, and artist has turned real phenomena to encoded signs as per his own mentality. this procedure is called stylization.

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

[1] Most state-of-the-art climate models have difficulty in the prediction of El NiñoSouthern Oscillation (ENSO) starting from preboreal spring seasons. The causes of this spring predictability barrier (SPB) remain elusive. With a theoretical ENSO system model, we investigate this controversial issue by tracing the evolution of conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation (CNOP) and by analyzing ...

During meiosis, the centrosome/spindle pole body (SPB) must be regulated in a manner distinct from that of mitosis to achieve a specialized cell division that will produce gametes. In this paper, we demonstrate that several SPB components are localized to SPBs in a meiosis-specific manner in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. SPB components, such as Cut12, Pcp1, and Spo15, which stay ...

The earliest known step in yeast spindle pole body (SPB) duplication requires Cdc31p and Kar1p, two physically interacting SPB components, and Dsk2p and Rad23p, a pair of ubiquitin-like proteins. Components of the PKC1 pathway were found to interact with these SPB duplication genes in two independent genetic screens. Initially, SLG1 and PKC1 were obtained as high-copy suppressors of dsk2Delta r...

The budding yeast spindle pole body (SPB) is anchored in the nuclear envelope so that it can simultaneously nucleate both nuclear and cytoplasmic microtubules. During SPB duplication, the newly formed SPB is inserted into the nuclear membrane. The mechanism of SPB insertion is poorly understood but likely involves the action of integral membrane proteins to mediate changes in the nuclear envelo...

We consider the adsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) on spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPB). The SPB consist of asolid polystyrene core of 100 nm diameter onto which linear polyelectrolyte chains [poly(acrylic acid), (PAA)] are grafted. The adsorption of BSA is studied at a pH of 6.1 at different concentrations of added salt and buffer. We observe strong adsorption of BSA onto the SPB d...

The two yeast proteins Mlp1p and Mlp2p (homologues of the vertebrate protein Tpr) are filamentous proteins attached to the nuclear face of nuclear pore complexes. Here we perform a proteomic analysis, which reveals that the two Mlps have strikingly different interacting partners, testifying to their different roles within the cell. We find that Mlp2p binds directly to Spc110p, Spc42p, and Spc29...
