This paper reports genetic parameters for ewe performance traits in sheep breeders' flocks in New Zealand. Animal performance records from the AgResearch Lamb Survival Database and from Sheep Improvement Limited were used to generate data sets from 3 lambing years (2003 to 2005) in 24 flocks, and involving 31,651 ewes and many breeds and breed compositions (predominantly Romney, Coopworth, and ...

The performance of an iris recognition system can be undermined by poor quality images and result in high false reject rates (FRR) and failure to enrol (FTE) rates. In this article, a signal to noise ratio (SNR), Grey scale Density, Contrast between sclera and Iris, contrast between iris and pupil quality measure for iris images is proposed. The merit of this approach lies in its ability to dif...

Using the ARGUS detector at the e+e storage ring DORIS II, we have measured the Michel parameters , , and for ! l decays in -pair events produced at center of mass energies in the region of the resonances. Using ! as spin analyzing tags, we nd e = 0:68 0:04 0:08, e = 1:12 0:20 0:09, e = 0:57 0:14 0:07, = 0:69 0:06 0:08, = 1:25 0:27 0:14 and = 0:72 0:18 0:10. In addition, we report the combine...

In the presence of nuisance parameters, we derive an explicit higher order asymptotic formula to compare the expected lengths of conndence intervals given by likelihood ratio statistics arising from the usual proole likelihood and various adjustments thereof. Highest posterior density regions, with approximate frequentist validity, are also included in the study.

The acceptance of software is determined in how far users can be satisfied in the context of using the software. In this chapter context of use is defined in terms of usability-engineering parameters. A first step towards conceptual integration of software-performance engineering with usability engineering is described. Performance engineering in terms of usability evaluation is then enabled th...
