E-Chord is a Distributed Hash Table algorithm (DHT) inspired from Chord, Pastry and CAN algorithms. It meant to provide a keyword-based search in the Three-Layer Mediation Architecture. The E-Chord is deployed in the middle layer (Integration Layer) of the architecture and provides services to the higher layer (Presence Layer) and the lower layer (Homogenization Layer).

We propose a management architecture for the P2P model which respects its distributed nature while building a hierarchical structure. This architecture enables the distribution of management functions, avoids an excessive centralization of the manager role and fits the dynamic of the P2P model well. The architecture is evaluated through an implementation in the Pastry framework.

One of the core problems of P2P computing is resource locating. The main research results of determined resource locating algorithms are four distributed hash table algorithms, i.e: CAN, Chord, Pastry and Tapestry. Based on these algorithms , this paper presents a hierarchical and manageable resource locating model (HMRLM)which can provide P2P networks with scalability and manageability.
