Diabetic keratopathy is an ocular complication that occurs with diabetes. In the present study, the effect of diabetic keratopathy on corneal optical density, central corneal thickness, and corneal endothelial cell count was investigated. One hundred and eighty diabetic patients (360 eyes) were enrolled in the study during the period from March, 2012 to March, 2013. The patients were divided in...

Materials with similar chemical compositions often exhibit different optical properties due to their structural composition. PTFE is widely used in many applications for both its mechanical and optical properties. Low density sintered PTFE has optical properties that make it desirable for use as a white diffuser in applications such as remote sensing. The contrast between the commonly available...

This study evaluated the optical density of two microfilled and two microhybrid resins, as well as the composition of these materials with regard to their optical density. Cavities prepared in 12 2-mm- or 4-mm-thick acrylic plastic plates were filled with Z250 (3M-ESPE), A110 (3M-ESPE), Charisma (Heraeus-Kulzer) and DurafillVS (Heraeus-Kulzer). The resin increments (2-mm-thick) were light-cured...

The electronic structure and optical properties in cubic cry stal BaTiO3 are studied using full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method in density functional theory (DFT) with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) by WIEN2K package. The calculated results of BaTiO3 are in good agreement with other theoretical and experimental results.

The following two factors significantly influence estimates of the maximum specific growth rate ( micro (max)) and the lag-phase duration (lambda): (i) the technique used to monitor bacterial growth and (ii) the model fitted to estimate parameters. In this study, nine strains of Listeria monocytogenes were monitored simultaneously by optical density (OD) analysis and by viable count enumeration...

Angular light-scattering studies have been carried out on suspensions of isolated rat liver mitochondria. The angular scatter pattern has a large forward component, typical of large particles. Changes in dissymmetry and in the intensity of light scattered at 90 degrees have been correlated with changes in optical density during the course of mitochondrial swelling and contraction. Such changes ...

in this research, structural and electronic properties of zncdn-1ten clusters (n=1-10) have been studied by formalism of density functional theory and using the projector augmented wave within local density approximation. the structural properties (such as bond length/angle and coordination number), electronic and optical properties (such as binding energy, kohn-sham spectrum and partial charge...

The hok (host killing) and sok (suppressor of killing) genes (hok/sok) efficiently maintain the low-copy-number plasmid R1. To investigate whether the hok/sok locus evolved as a phage-exclusion mechanism, Escherichia coli cells that contain hok/sok on a pBR322-based plasmid were challenged with T1, T4, T5, T7, and lambda phage. Upon infection with T4, the optical density of cells containing hok...
