We analyze the use of kinematic constraints for articulated object tracking. Conditions for the occurrence of singularities in 3-D models are presented and their effects on tracking are characterized. We describe a novel 2-D Scaled Prismatic Model (SPM) for figure registration. In contrast to 3-D kinematic models, the SPM has fewer singularity problems and does not require detailed knowledge of...

Generalized parton distributions are investigated within a holographic approach where the string modes in the fifth dimension describe the nucleon in a bottom–up or AdS/QCD framework. The aim is to bring the AdS/QCD results in the realm of phenomenology in order to extract consequences and previsions. Two main aspects are studied: (i) the role of the confining potential needed for breaking conf...

This paper addresses kinematic control of a redundant space manipulator mounted on a freeoating spacecraft. Redundancy of the system with respect to the number of task variables for spacecraft attitude and manipulator end-e ector pose is considered. Also, the problem of both spacecraft attitude and end-e ector orientation representation is tackled. A nonminimal singularity-free representation o...

1. Exaggerated morphological structures that evolve under sexual selection have the potential to alter functional relationships and hence affect aspects of movement. These effects may be more pronounced when the exaggerated morphological trait is coupled to the propulsive system. 2. Many studies have examined the effects of sexually selected traits on whole-organism performance, but few have do...

Total fission cross sections and charge distributions of the final fission fragments have been measured at GSI in inverse kinematics for the reactions 208Pb+ p,d at 500AMeV and 182Ta+ p at 300, 500, 700 and 1000AMeV. These data are used to investigate dissipative and transient effects at low deformation and its possible dependences with temperature and fissility.

The T-odd distribution functions contributing to transversity properties of the nucleon and their role in fueling nontrivial contributions to azimuthal asymmetries in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering are investigated. We use a dynamical model to evaluate these quantities in terms of HERMES kinematics. We point out how the measurements of cos 2φ asymmetry may indicate the presence of T-o...

This paper presents an elegant contact dynamics model in screw bondgraph form. It can model the contact between any two objects of finite curvature. It does so by defining a Gauss frame on the surfaces of both objects in the points that are closest to each other. Then it describes how the Gauss frames move as the objects move relative to each other. This is called the contact kinematics. The co...

In this paper we shall present the progress of the ROBOCOQ project. This project aims to design a prototype of autonomous biped based on the avian model, capable of exploring cluttered environments. This design relies on experimental kinematics data obtained from the quail. The experimental protocol used to reconstruct a 3D model is presented in this paper as well as the procedure and criteria ...
