Photolysis of [Ni(II)(μ-Cl)Cl(IPr)](2) (IPr = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene) activates the Ni-Cl bonds to furnish [Ni(I)(μ-Cl)(IPr)](2).
