Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor that occurs in the wall of nasopharyngeal cavity and prevalent Southern China, Southeast Asia, North Africa, Middle East. According to studies, NPC one most common tumors Hainan, it has highest incidence rate among otorhinolaryngological malignancies. We proposed new deep learning network model improve segmentation accuracy target region cance...
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is strongly associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. To assess whether EBV DNA detection by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or presence of specific serum antibody to viral capsid antigen (VCA) was a better marker for screening NPC, nasopharyngeal tissues and blood samples from 58 NPC patients and 24 non-NPC patients (23 with laryngotracheal stenosis and...
Background: Aberrant expression of STAT4 has been validated in different cancers. However, its role in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains unidentified. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the clinical significance of STAT4 and its potential role in the carcinogenesis and deterioration of NPC. Materials and Methods: Expression of STAT4, as well as EGFR and P53 in 393 NPC pati...
Andrographolide (Andro) has been reported to have anticancer activity in multiple types of cancer due to its capacity to inactivate NF-κB pathway. Previous studies showed the therapeutic potential of targeting NF-κB pathway in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, the anticancer activity of Andro in NPC has not been reported. In this study, we defined the anticancer effects of Andro in NPC a...
MiRNAs are small noncoding RNAs that play important roles in various biological processes including tumorigenesis. However, little is known about the expression and function of miR-506 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). In this study, we showed that miR-506 was downregulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell lines and tissues. Ectopic expression of miR-506 dramatically suppressed cell prol...
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a rare disease in children. Children with NPC almost always have the undifferentiated variant of the disease, which is associated with advanced locoregional and distant metastasis. We report two cases to illustrate that high index of suspicion is necessary to diagnose NPC in children especially those with atypical presentation of otitis media with effusion (OME).
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has a high metastatic character in the clinic, but its mechanism is not clear. As a carcinogen with organ specificity for the nasopharyngeal epithelium, N,N'-Dinitrosopiperazine (DNP) is involved in NPC metastasis. Herein, our data revealed that anterior gradient 2 (AGR2) was overexpressed in human NPC tissues, particularly in cervical lymph node metastatic NPC (L...
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a rare tumour that mainly metastasizes in lymph nodes, bones, lungs and liver. Colorectal metastases of NPC are extremely rare phenomenon and associated with a poor prognosis. We reported here a case of NPC with rectal metastasis, we discussed the treatment modalities and the prognosis after reviewing the similar cases described in the literature.
Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1) is a protein expressed consistently in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Although antibody levels against three different EBNA1 peptides were all high in NPC patients, the correlation between any two biomarkers was low. Therefore, the selection of distinct EBNA1 peptides could render different results in serological detection for individuals with NPC.
Cervical lymph node metastasis is common in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), but occipital lymph node metastasis in NPC patients has not yet been reported. In this case report, we describe an NPC patient with occipital lymph node metastasis. The clinical presentation, diagnostic procedure, treatment, and outcome of this case were presented, with a review of the related literature.
