In this paper, we present the results of our investigation on identifying the optimal segmentor(s) from an ensemble of weak segmentors, used in a Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx) system which classifies suspicious masses in mammograms as benign or malignant. This is an extension of our previous work, where we used various parameter settings of image enhancement techniques to each suspicious mass...

brain mr images tissue segmentation is one of the most important parts of the clinical diagnostic tools. pixel classification methods have been frequently used in the image segmentation with two supervised and unsupervised approaches up to now. supervised segmentation methods lead to high accuracy but they need a large amount of labeled data, which is hard, expensive and slow to obtain. moreove...

According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the main cause of cancer death among women in the world. Until now, there are no effective ways of preventing this disease. Thus, early screening and detection is the most effective method for rising treatment success rates and reducing death rates due to breast cancer. Mammography is still the most used as a diagnostic and screening ...

Parametric active contour models cannot provide enough precision for object segmentation. Since, based on analyzing the diffusion process of GVF, an improved external force field called as (center of local mass) CLM is proposed in this paper. The results show that our proposed algorithm provides good convergence and have very good segmentation.

Introduction: Appropriate definition of the distance measure between diffusion tensors has a deep impact on Diffusion Tensor Image (DTI) segmentation results. The geodesic metric is the best distance measure since it yields high-quality segmentation results. However, the important problem with the geodesic metric is a high computational cost of the algorithms based on it. The main goal of this ...

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES The quantitative assessment of neck lymph nodes in the context of malignant tumors requires an efficient segmentation technique for lymph nodes in tomographic three-dimensional (3D) datasets. We present a stable 3D mass-spring model for lymph node segmentation in computed tomography (CT) datasets. MATERIALS AND METHODS For the first time our model concurrently represe...

Background Automatic segmentation of the left ventricle (LV) is desirable to assess the cardiac parameters end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), ejection fraction (EF) and left ventricular mass (LVM) since manual segmentation is time consuming and observer dependent. A physiologically correct segmentation of the left ventricle requires careful consideration of the long axis dis...

The quantitative assessment of neck lymph nodes in the context of malignant tumors requires an efficient segmentation technique for lymph nodes in tomographic 3D datasets. We present a Stable 3D Mass-Spring Model for lymph node segmentation in CT datasets. For the first time, our model concurrently represents the characteristic gray value range, directed contour information as well as shape kno...

Semi-automatic segmentation approaches tend to overlook the problems caused by missing or incomplete image information. In such situations, powerful control mechanisms and intuitive modelling metaphors should be provided in order to make the methods practically applicable. Taking this problem into account, the usage of subdivision curves in combination with the simulation of edge attracted mass...

potato image segmentation is an important part of image-based potato defect detection. this paper presents a robust potato color image segmentation through a combination of a fuzzy rule based system, an image thresholding based on genetic algorithm (ga) optimization and morphological operators. the proposed potato color image segmentation is robust against variation of background, distance and ...
