Four polyesters were prepared by stepwise condensation of isopbthalic acid, cblorendic acid and maleic anhydride with propylene glycol using p-toluenesulpbonic acid as catalyst and xylene as entrainer. The quantities of maleic anbydride and propylene glycol used were 1 and 2.2 moles respectively and tbe molar ratios of cblorendic acid to isopbtbalic acid were 0.2: 0.8. 0.4: 0.6, 0.6: 0.4 and 0....

maleic anhydride (man) copolymers with methyl methacrylate(mma), ethyl methacrylate(ema), methyl acrylate(ma), ethyl acrylate (ea) and buthyl acrylate (ba) ( in a 1:1 mole ratio) were synthesized by free radical polymerizations method under vacuum -azobis(isobutironitrile)(aibn) as an initiator of reaction at 701c. the copolymer compositions were determined using related 1h nmr spectra techni...

Vanadium phosphate catalysts have been widely studied for the selective oxidation of alkanes to a variety of products, including maleic and phthalic anhydride. More recently they are starting to find use as low temperature liquid phase oxidation catalysts. For all these applications the synthesis of the precursor is key to the performance of the final catalyst. Changes in the preparation proced...

Micellar mannose nanoparticles were constructed from poly{styrene-co-[(maleic anhydride)-alt-styrene]} with fluorophores or quenchers doped into the hydrophobic inner cores, allowing the direct monitoring of multivalent lectin-glycan interactions. The mannose-displaying nanoparticles bind Con A and sperm surface lectins with high affinity, suggesting their broad utility for modulating protein-c...

A hypothesis was developed, and successfully tested, to greatly increase the rates of biodegradation of polyolefins, by anchoring minute quantities of glucose, sucrose or lactose, onto functionalized polystyrene (polystyrene-co-maleic anhydride copolymer) and measuring their rates of biodegradation, which were found to be significantly improved.
