Computing precision and recall metrics for named entity tagging and resolution involves classifying text spans as true positives, false positives, or false negatives. There are many factors that make this classification complicated for real world systems. We describe an evaluation system that attempts to control this complexity through a set of rules and a forward chaining inference engine.

Earth pressure balance tunnel boring machines (EPB-TBMs) are favorably applied in urban tunneling projects. Despite their numerous advantages, considerable delays and high maintenance cost are the main disadvantages these machines suffer from. Reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) analysis is a practical technique that uses failure and repair dataset obtained over a reasonable ti...

The migration of monolithic applications to the cloud is a popular trend, with microservice architecture being commonly targeted architectural pattern. motivation behind this often rooted in challenges associated maintaining legacy and need adapt rapidly changing business requirements. To ensure that microservices sound decision for enhancing maintainability, designers must carefully consider u...

Maintainability is an important character which is given by product design process. The maintainability design criteria and measure index used in product maintainability analysis are summarized and discussed in this paper. A product maintainability design method is studied by integrating the product feature model, maintainability design criteria with measure index. Product feature model can be ...

There is always has been a demand to provide efficient and effective high quality software. There are various maintainability objects to provide better maintainability. The quality of good software design heavily effective the quality of software. One of the claimed advantages of object-oriented paradigm is ease of maintenance. This paper provides the review on the papers studied on the softwar...

Measuring software maintainability early in the development life cycle, especially at the design phase, may help designers to incorporate required enhancement and corrections for improving maintainability of the final software. This paper developed a multivariate linear model ‘Maintainability Estimation Model for Object-Oriented software in Design phase’ (MEMOOD), which estimates the maintainab...

Software maintenance is a term of major interest and it is a valuable part of software development cycle. One of the main aspects of software quality in software products is maintainability. Further, there are four sub categories of maintainability: analyzability, changeability, stability, and testability. Maintainability plays a vital role in improving software quality as software changes/upda...

In the process of software architecture design, different decisions are made that have systemwide impact. An important decision of design stage is the selection of a suitable software architecture style. Lack of investigation on the quantitative impact of architecture styles on software quality attributes is the main problem in using such styles. So, the use of architecture styles in designing ...

Maintainability is typically described initially as a non functional requirement at the system level. Systems engineers must subsequently apportion these system requirements very carefully as either software or hardware requirements to conform to the maintainability requirements of the system. A number of concepts are provided in the ECSS, ISO 9126, and IEEE standards to describe the various ty...

In this paper, we discuss experiences gained during evaluation of the maintainability of a reference architecture in use at Océ, one of the world’s leading copier manufacturers. The evaluation is conducted using an approach based on SEI’s Software Architecture Analysis Method (SAAM). The paper proposes a variant of SAAM that helps to reduce the organisational impact of architecture evaluations....
