the source parameters and focal depth of the destructive mw 6.5, 31 march. 2006 iran- silakhor earthquake, the two largest foreshocks and a major aftershock are determined using broadband data from a seismic network in iran based on a time-domain linear moment tensor inversion. the earthquakes occurred in the zagros suture zone in western iran. waveform inversion of the selected events estimate...

Experiments were conducted in a laboratory facility under with a fixed bathymetric profile containing a single bar. A hybrid data set was collected consisting of remotely sensed wave data combined with modelgenerated wave amplitude profiles. The data is used to test the improvements in depth retrieval through the use of a nonlinear composite dispersion that is applicable in arbitrary water dept...

| In this paper, we consider robust inversion of linear operators with convex constraints. We present an iteration that converges to the minimum norm least squares solution; a stopping rule is shown to regularize the constrained inversion. A constrained Laplace inversion is computed to illustrate the proposed algorithm.

A hybrid approach for problems of ocean acoustic tomography is presented, based on the statistical characterization (SC) of the acoustic signal followed by a mode identification and linear inversion. The statistical characterization is used for the estimation of a reference solution to the inverse problem of estimating the sound speed profile in the water column. This non-linear inversion probl...

results the maximum si was obtained at the highest applied flip angle (45°). the linear relationship between si and nanoparticle concentration was seen up to 112.21 and 98.83 μmol fe/l for the short (10°) and the long (45°) flip angles, respectively (r2 = 0.95). these values were reduced up to 48.54 and 42.73 μmol fe/l for these flip angles with r2 of 0.99. conclusions the maximum si will be in...

We discuss the inversion of the gas profiles (ozone, NO3, NO2, aerosols and neutral density) in the upper atmosphere from the spectral occultation measurements. The data are produced by the ‘Global ozone monitoring of occultation of stars’ instrument on board the Envisat satellite that was launched in March 2002.The instrument measures the attenuation of light spectra at various horizontal paths...

Linear elements are least expensive finite elements for simultaneously recovering the source location and intensity in a general convection-diffusion process. However, the derivatives of the least-squares objective functional with Tikhonov regularizations are not well-defined when linear finite elements are used. In this work we provide a systematic formulation of the numerical inversion using ...

A novel technique to achieve output tracking via stable inversion of non-minimum phase linear systems is presented wherein the desired signal is obtained from field measurements, and hence corrupted by noise. The earlier approach to stable inversion does not take into account the noise in the system. The unknown input decoupled observer approach is applicable only to minimum phase systems. More...

We propose an extension to Regularized Non-Linear Inversion (NLINV), which simultaneously reconstructs multiple images and sets of coil sensitivity profiles. This method, termed ENLIVE (Extended Non-Linear InVersion inspired by ESPIRiT), can be related to a convex relaxation of the NLINV problem subject to a low-rank constraint. From NLINV, it inherits its suitability for calibrationless and no...
