We present tableau calculi for some logics of nonmonotonic reasoning, as defined by Kraus, Lehmann and Magidor. We give a tableau proof procedure for all KLM logics, namely preferential, loop-cumulative, cumulative and rational logics. Our calculi are obtained by introducing suitable modalities to interpret conditional assertions. We provide a decision procedure for the logics considered, and w...
This paper describes the muon identification method and its performance in the Belle experiment at KEKB. Muon and hadron likelihood are calculated for each track using its range and transverse scattering in the KL-and-muon detector (KLM). We apply a cut on the normalized muon likelihood Lm to identify the track as a muon. Above the detection threshold of 0:6 GeV=c; the measured muon detection e...
System identification is the process of creating models of dynamic process from inputoutput signals. The aim of system identification can be identified as “ to find a model with adjustable parameters and then to adjust them so that the predicted output matches the measured output”. This paper presents a method of modeling and simulating with system identification to achieve the maximum fitness ...
Past studies of the NOAA AVHRR/2 and GOES I-M imagery (e.g., Setvák et al., 1996) have shown that frozen tops of deep convective storms occasionally exhibit significant increase of cloud top reflectivity when observed in the 3.7 or 3.9 μm spectral bands. Similar storm top features have been documented in the NOAA-KLM AVHRR/3 1.6 μm spectral band (Setvák et al., 2003). Consequently, cross-compar...
In this work we present FREEP 1.0, a theorem prover for the KLM preferential logic P of nonmonotonic reasoning. FREEP 1.0 is a SICStus Prolog implementation of a free-variables, labelled tableau calculus for P, obtained by introducing suitable modalities to interpret conditional assertions. The performances of FREEP 1.0 are promising. FREEP 1.0 can be downloaded at http:// www.di.unito.it/∼pozz...
We present a general preferential semantic framework for plausible subsumption in description logics, analogous to the KLM preferential semantics for propositional entailment. We introduce the notion of ordered interpretations for description logics, and use it to define two mutually dual non-deductive subsumption relations
