Recent studies have shown that certain man-made compounds (including some pesticides and herbicide) through interfering with endocrine system, have the capability to induce developmental and reproductive abnormalities in humans and animals. Pesticides are currently being used in large scales in many developed and developing countries (including Iran), so this study has been conducted to determi...
Mesacanthus is a common and speciose genus of acanthodian fish from Lower Old Red Sandstone and Middle Old Red Sandstone assemblages (representing the Lower Devonian and Middle Devonian respectively) and is well represented in many palaeoichthyology collections in the UK. Based upon descriptions given during the 19th century, specimens of the genus Mesacanthus from the Orcadian Basin and Midlan...
Isochrons are foliations of phase space that extend the notion of phase of a stable periodic orbit to the basin of attraction of this periodic orbit. Each point in the basin of attraction lies on only one isochron, and two points on the same isochron converge to the periodic orbit with the same phase. Global isochrons, that is, isochrons extended into the full basin of attraction rather than ju...
[1] The volcanic plains that fill the Caloris basin, the largest recognized impact basin on Mercury, are deformed by many graben and wrinkle ridges, among which the multitude of radial graben of Pantheon Fossae allow us to resolve variations in the depth extent of associated faulting. Displacement profiles and displacement-to-length scaling both indicate that faults near the basin center are co...
Eremiothrips bhattii sp.n. is described from Fars province, Iran. Three other species of this genus that have previously been recorded from other parts of Iran, E. similis Bhatti, E. taghizadehi (zur Strassen) and E. varius (Bhatti) are reported from Fars province for the first time. A key is provided for identification of the Iranian Eremiothrips species based on males.
[1] In September 2004 a detailed physical and chemical survey was conducted on an anticyclonic, cold-core eddy located seaward of the Chukchi Shelf in the western Arctic Ocean. The eddy had a diameter of 16 km and was centered at a depth of 160 m between the 1000 and 1500 m isobaths over the continental slope. The water in the core of the eddy (total volume of 25 km) was of Pacific origin, and ...
For osteological studying of Paraschistura delvarii, thirty-three specimens of this species were collected from Gharah-aghaj river in Gulf basin (Fars Provance) by electro shocker. Fish were preserve 10% formaldehyde. Osteological studies were performed on all specimens following transportation to the laboratory samples were cleared and stained. The most important skeletal characteristics to di...
