Cardiac myxoma is most common among primary cardiac tumors, and its origin and tumor characteristics have been gradually elucidated by recent advances in molecular biology. Prichard's structure in the interatrial septum which was reported to be a candidate for the origin of cardiac myxoma, was revealed to be age-related changes. In hereditary cardiac myxoma "Carney complex", chromosomal abnorma...

Myxoma virus is a rabbit-specific poxvirus pathogen that also exhibits a unique tropism for human tumor cells and is dramatically oncolytic for human cancer xenografts. Most tumor cell lines tested are permissive for myxoma infection in a fashion intimately tied to the activation state of Akt kinase. A host range factor of myxoma virus, M-T5, directly interacts with Akt and mediates myxoma viru...

Myxoma is a benign connective tissue tumor that is most commonly found in the heart. Because myxoma of the external ear is extremely rare, its diagnosis may be easily delayed or it may be misdiagnosed as another disease. Moreover, because it can be a part of Carney complex (autosomal dominant syndrome), its correct diagnosis is very important. We experienced a 10-year-old girl who had a mass on...

Left atrial myxomas are the most common type of benign primary cardiac tumor. Patients can present with generalized symptoms, such as fatigue, symptoms from obstruction of the myxoma, or even embolization of the myxoma causing distal thrombosis. We describe a case with several-month duration of syncopal episodes that occurred after coughing and with exertion. Computed tomography of the chest sh...

Primary tumors of the heart are rare, and among them, cardiac myxoma is the most prevalent primary cardiac neoplasm in adult patients. Astrocytoma is the most common glioma and can occur in most parts of the brain and occasionally in the spinal cord. There is a little knowledge about coexistence of cardiac myxoma and astrocytoma in the literature. Cardiac myxoma associated with intracranial tum...

Introduction: Benign intracardiac tumours are the most common of 5% primary and account for 90% tumours. Myxoma, which is main benign tumour, rarely localizes to mitral valve, in order 1-5%, associated with severe symptoms enormous complications.
The objective report a rare case valve myxoma resulting obstruction orifice.

Arial myxoma can present as stroke and should be considered as a differential diagnosis of stroke in young individuals. We present here a 42 years female who presented with sudden loss of conciousness. After extensive work up for young stroke, left atrial myxoma was detected and tumor was removed surgically and histopathological report was consistent with the atrial myxoma.

Cardiac myxoma represents the most common primary cardiac neoplasm, accounting for nearly 75% of benign cardiac tumor. Tumor embolisms occur in 30% to 40% of patients with myxoma, and half of these are cerebral arteries. To our knowledge, this is the first published report of multiregional tumor embolizations except for cerebral artery and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in patients with left atrial m...

BACKGROUND/AIM Myxoma is the most common benign primary cardiac neoplasm, and usually originates from the left atrial septum. Early diagnosis of cardiac myxomas depends on a high index of a clinical suspicion. Surgical management must be done as soon as possible after diagnosis. The aim of this retrospective study was to present diagnostics and treatment outcome data of 61 patients with cardiac...

Cardiac myxoma is a benign tumor, but it is known for its space-occupying effect at the site of origin and frequent systemic embolization. This case report highlights a biatrial myxoma of interatrial septum who presented with significant tricuspid valve regurgitation, atrial fibrillation, and cardioembolic stroke of the left parietal lobe, i.e., a biatrial myxoma with triple ripples.
