Long crested weirs are gaining popularity amongst the hydraulic engineers owing to obvious hydraulic advantage of flow magnification. These weirs can pass much higher floods from the available width of a natural water course. Such weirs may also be introduced in water treatment plants for mixing of chemicals. This paper discusses the advantages of long crested weirs, such as duckbill and labyri...

Few of the Pelecaniformes are globally threatened, although some island and inland populations of pelecaniform birds have become extinct in the face of habitat loss and contamination. In some species (e.g., double-crested cormorant, white pelican), numbers are increasing with near-exponential growth, while in others (e.g., Dalmatian pelican) population abundance is rapidly decreasing. Island sp...

Genetic divergence of mitochondrial DNA does not necessarily correspond to reproductive isolation. However, if mitochondrial DNA lineages occupy separate segments of environmental space, this supports the notion of their evolutionary independence. We explore niche differentiation among three candidate species of crested newt (characterized by distinct mitochondrial DNA lineages) and interpret t...

An integrated memory cell with a mem-ristor and a trilayer crested barrier selector, showing repeatable nonlinear current-voltage switching loops is presented. The fully atomic-layer-deposited TaN1+x /Ta2 O5 /TaN1+x crested barrier selector yields a large nonlinearity (>10(4) ), high endurance (>10(8) ), low variability, and low temperature dependence.

Crested wheatgrass being high drought-resistant, is a promising forage crop for the Republic of Bashkortostan. It relevant in developing varieties adapted to environmental stress factors that have productive longevity, increased seed and fodder productivity. The paper presents research results crested conducted nursery competitive variety testing productivity 2018-2020. High due well-developed ...

the rectangular broad crested weirs are widely used to measure the water dischargewhich is one of the most popular tools in the irrigation canals particularly, in developingcountries.the present article is trying to demonstrate the results of an experimental work carriedout on rectangular broad crested weir with sloped upstream face to investigate the effect ofupstream slope on discharge effici...

The Crested Ibis Nipponia nippon was once thought to be extinct in the wild until seven birds were discovered in a remote mountain village in China in 1981. Studies suggested that winter-flooded rice fields play an essential role in nest site selection by the Crested Ibis and hence in their survival. Considerable efforts were therefore made to conserve the winter-flooded rice fields, but these ...

The divergence in phenotype and habitat preference within the crested newt Triturus cristatus superspecies, examined across different ontogenetic stages, provides an excellent setting to explore the pattern of adaptive radiation. The crested newts form a well-supported monophyletic clade for which at least the full mitochondrial DNA phylogeny is resolved. Here we summarise studies that explored...
