We present LUiGi-H a goal-driven autonomy (GDA) agent. Like other GDA agents it introspectively reasons about its own expectations to formulate new goals. Unlike other GDA agents, LUiGi-H uses cases consisting of hierarchical plans and semantic annotations of the expectations of those plans. Expectations indicate conditions that must be true when parts of the plan are executed. Using an ontolog...

This paper reports a tool which assists the user in annotating a video corpus and enables the user to search for a semantic or pragmatic structure in a GDA tagged corpus. An XQL format is allowed for search patterns as well as a plain phrase. This tool is capable of generating a GDA timestamped corpus from a video file manually. It will be publicly available for academic purposes.

Anonymous communication has become a building block of network services. Besides providing anonymity, speed (and thus real-time guarantees) are becoming crucial as well. In this paper we will introduce the global delaying adversary (GDA), an active attacker who is capable of arbitrarily delaying messages, while eavesdropping on all communication channels. This type of foe is particularly releva...

MPEG-7 (Moving Picture Experts Group Phase 7) is an XML-based international standard on semantic description of multimedia content. This document discusses the Linguistic DS and related tools. The linguistic DS is a tool, based on the GDA tag set (http://i-content.org/GDA/tagset.html), for semantic annotation of linguistic data in or associated with multimedia content. The current document text...

Small RNA guides--microRNAs, small interfering RNAs, and repeat-associated small interfering RNAs, 21 to 30 nucleotides in length--shape diverse cellular pathways, from chromosome architecture to stem cell maintenance. Fifteen years after the discovery of RNA silencing, we are only just beginning to understand the depth and complexity of how these RNAs regulate gene expression and to consider t...

Research on the automatic generation of referring expressions has extended algorithms for the generation of full definite NPs to deal with anaphoric references. However, there has been relatively little work on the specific problems raised by plural anaphora. In particular, since plurals involve a reference to a set rather than an individual, one of the interesting questions concerns the extent...

We study a production economy with regime switching in the conditional mean and volatility of productivity growth. The representative agent has generalized disappointment aversion (GDA) preferences. We show that volatility risk in productivity growth carries a positive and sizable risk premium in levered equity. Our model can endogenously generate long-run risks in the volatility of consumption...

This paper proposes a new approach to real-time robot controlling by integrating an Electrooculography (EOG) measuring device within humanrobot interaction (HRI). Our study focuses on controlling robots using EOG for fulfilling elementary robot activities such as basic motor movements and environment interaction. A new EOG-based HRI paradigm has been developed on the specific defined problem of...

Since the 1500s, Mayan language and glyphic systems have been romanticized by Eurocentric interpretations. In recent years, many anthropological works have perpetuated these myths by presenting inaccurate analyses of Maya linguistics. Rather than showing the Maya as an advance and civilized people, these texts promoted a weak, barbarous Maya who could be easily manipulated by European culture, ...
